New Clutch Question???
Just finished installing a complete Barnett Clutch kit in my '00 ZX12r over the weekend.. New steels, friction plates, and springs
the question= When I launch the bike (dragging my clutch) I'm hearing a grinding right before i'm fully off the clutch.. Now if i just dump the clutch and get on the gas..No grind and all is good. Is this grinding just because they are BRAND NEW plates and will go away after a few launches at the strip or do i need to adjust the clutch more???
Thanks in advance for any input on this matter... Levi
p/s: the bike pulls like a scalded dog in any gear and any rpm so the clutch is for sure doing it's job properly.. Thanks

Did you check to see were your stack height ended up with that kit??? Not too many people ever use a Barnett clutch kit in their zx12.... OEM is the clutch plate to choose....Barnetts seem to swell up with heat and change adjustments a bit.... Did you use the chatter rings???

IIRC Doug Meyer once said that all you need is to get them a little wet with oil (with your finger or whatever) when you put them in, that soaking isnt needed, but doesnt hurt. thats the way ive been doing it since i started racing the 12 a few yrs ago

56.8-57.6, go as close to the bigger number for wear purposes
