Yah, those 454 El Camino SS were nice! I never drove a Ranchero with a 460 in it, but the El Camino was a nice package.

I have had a couple of Rancheros, a 69 and a 73. I loved them but they were the biggest pieces of shit on the road. I was a Ford guy and thought that was the way all cars were. The 69 virtually self destructed, the 4 speed tranny bent the mainshaft, the rear end went, the heads warped, the rings were toast afer 20,000. The front springs sagged, it wouldn't stay in alignment, heater core went at 25,000 the thing ate timing chains rear wheeel bearings etc. The 73 spit a rod, toasted 2 trannys, 1 rear end, the interior disintigrated, heater core, AC died, etc. Now let me qualify myself. I take meticulious care of my vehicles, I am anal about it, I keep the interiors/exteriors spotless, every fluid is replaced with the best money can buy, I have never skimped. I do not abuse cars, hell I have never had a ticket in a car(knock on wood). In 79 I bought a Trans Am, and the only thing I had to do to it in 100,000 was replace the alternator and timing chain. Never looked at a Ford again. But back to the subject, I loved the body styles especially the 69 it was a beautiful car.

el camino....ranchero???? those arent trucks, what the hell are you all talking aout them in a truck thread....dam a truck had got to be able to tow atleast 5000 lbs and cant share body parts with a car...geeezzzz uzzzzzz

I have a Ford F-350 SuperDuty Crew Cab. I bought it A.) Casue I have the Brady Bunch to haul around and B.) Becasue I haul my RockCrawler all over the place and it makes one great tow rig.
It is slated to go to 4 Wheel Parts next week and get an 8" SkyJacker Lift and 37" SSR tires. Yea yea ye ait has all the other goodies such as a 100 hp chip and billet grill and juiced up stereo but its all about the look babay!
