zx12r into a zx9r chasis?
i have a new bike not interested in doing it now but say september-october i wanna try to shove my 1287cc zx12r motor into a zx9r zx12r is a 2004 and the zx9r is a 2003 any thoughts or write ups would seriously help thanks ahead of time

Rick has a 2000 9R in the shop, I have a 2000 ZX-12R....
Will you be running the 9R airbox or trying to mimic the 12's dimmensions with a custom one-off on? Might be more work than one would want to try....I'd rather just throw a progressive wet kit on the 9R. Near 1287 perf for less $ and time with frame/motor issues.
There was a guy on ebay that had a 2000 zx12 in a 00 style zx6r. Lowered, stretched 6", I think green. So its possible but the guy that built that admitted it took a bit of time with him and his engineer buddies involved.
On the flip side a 4 mill piston kit 998cc zx9r isn't too far from the performance of a stock 12.
I think spraying a 9 or boring out a 9R is cheaper/easier and more cost effective than trying to get a 12 to fit. Plus, again airbox issues unless the 9's airbox can keep up with the capacity of the 12 lungs. Can it keep up above 160 mph? Might.
Now if you just want a sleeper, that would be dope. I like the 9R and I love sleepers. People deinately sleep on ZX9s, especially young bucks on the street.

i remember seeing one done with a turbo... interesting way of getting around the airbox problem
