seriously: how many of you out there have ridden the busa for more than just a one-time short ride?...how many of you own both the 12R and Busa?...
...personal asthetic appeal aside, which is more comfortable on a long haul?...seems to me that the 12R has more rider wind protection for long distances, but looks more apt for short-medium distance, more twisty stuff...
...and the busa looks 'more comfortable' for the long straight hauls, but appears to have less wind protection (or more approriately "airflow management over the rider")...
...see what I'm getting at?...I'd appreciate your analytical inputs regarding ownership/riding these two awesome bikes...don't wanna hear about the HP/TQ or about asthetics...they've been discussed ad nauseum...just wanna know what it's like....thanks!
...ps: I know for slow barndoors like me it might not make a diff on either bikes, but i'd still like to hear your inputs

I believe KZZ and ZX12Girl own both. I've ridden both, the Busa is way more comfortable. My opinion of course.

I agree...busa is alot more comfy...throttle is MUCH smoother too.

i'll admit i havent spent alot of seat time on a busa , but i don't think i could ride it for very long. just not enough leg room. it's even uncomfy soon as i sit on it. but for ur 5ft nothing ass, it should be just fine

I'm 5'8" and gotta admit, the Busa would be my choice as a sport touring bike. That was a short ride impression though.

Ive owned both............. (99) Busa with some cams/pipe etc. My opinion is that the Busa is better for short legged creatures, more engine vibration in my opinion and not as fun generally. Since that I've had a 2000 12R and now a Candy Thunder Blue 02 12R. This opinion also is the same for my brother who now has switched to a 02 Red 12R. from a 00 Busa. We are just under 6 feet tall. Your knees get cramped on a Busa after a long ride...............besides the fact they just do not have the crisp snarl or character of a Kaw!!!!!!

Kind of like convincing a Ford guy a chevy is better or vic versa. Of course in reality when it comes to trucks both the chevy and ford suck and the DODGE is KING!!!!!!!
I would agree my impression is the busafits short people better. They also taste like chicken.

I'm 6'2" and so is my GF (frequent passenger). The busa is too darn small in the leg room department. The '12 is a bit better, but even the '12 gets tight on the LOOONG hauls .

...I dunno...I just like unusual looking things that go really, really fast...and the Busa ranks up there with the "unusual" department, brutally ugly imho...the headlight and front turnsigs are a bit 'lumpy', so is the tail when the seat cover is on, but you can't see it while you're riding and I don't buy things that say "hey, look at me...I'm cool" anyway...I buy things for me because its what I like and because its "unusual"...

I have the 12R and my brother has the Busa. We've traded and I think it's close.
The Busa feels noticeably lower than the 12R, but not uncomfortably so.
Busa has a double bubble windsheild that made a big difference with wind management. Seat is better on the Busa also.
I don't have any comfort issues with either one. (This comes from a guy who previously owned a GSXR750.) -ZXtra

Ive owned a hayabusa (99 model) it had helibars, windscreen piped,pc, airbox mod bmc, degreed cams, bumped comp etc. It made 185 hp and 107 ft lb torque. I put 17k miles on this bike. My wife owns a 2000 zx12r and I bought a 02 zx12 back in the summer. 1st on the looks department. I use to get all the harley guys oowing and aweing over the hayabusa. Little kids would point there fingers at and give the thumbs up sign. Everywhere I would go people (the non motorcyclist community) would stare at and say how cool it was. I ride the zx12 and its nearly invisible in comparison.
I have the 02 blue and it often gets mistaken for an R1. 2nd- handling edge to the new zx12. I have had the bikes out on track day(sandia motorsports alb nm short track built for 600's) and the zx felt a little better along with overall slightly better track times to boot! 3rd- comfort better leg room on the zx12 but a longer reach to the bars. Seat was a little better on the busa but the 02 is pretty close. The 2000 has more of a sattle like feel to it. Wind protection is better on the ninjas. I'm 5' 9" tall and little bit vertically challanged and the busa fit better for me. 4th- on the same dyno my stock zx12 vs hayabusa and the winner in the hp department by 2hp on the y2k and 3hp on the 02 goes to the zx12. However, more torque to the busa by 6ft lbs. At the dragstrip the bikes were about the same et wise but the ninja had the better mph. On a low speed roll on the hayabusa (stock vs stock) would pull on the zx by about three lengths from 40-120 mph and after that the zx12 would start to real it in by 140. After that the zx would slowly walk away from the bus. Keep in mind these are to riders about the same size. Interesting note* my 02 zx12 with hindle step pipe, timing advancer, one tooth up front (bolt ons) performs nearly identical qtr mile times to my busa with 10 hp, 10 ft lbs torque advantage. (ram air zx12?) Roll ons mod busa vs modded 12 and the bus crushes the 12 on the bottom end but again up on top the zx12 is right there!!! 5th as far as long distance riding neither bike does it for me. My zrx is infinately more comfortable except for no wind protection. So I keep my avg speed below 100. I dont get to beat up then. Which is the better bike? They are both awesome in there own right. Why did I get another ninja vs a bus? Simply, because I had all kinds of recalls on my bus and the service department at the local dealers stink. Additionally, the suzuki corp of america reps suck!!! They treat you horribly. I know I just wrote and essay on this subject but I tried to be as subjective as possible. On a final note while I was having all these troubles with my busa my wifes bike was like a timex. (takes a liken and keeps on ticken.

Of course I own an '02 12 and have a bud that has an '01 Bus. I spent a lot of butt time in both. And I generally agree with the following points:
1. Styling on Bus is ugly, almost fugly.
2. 12 is a bit more comfortable in leg room dept.
3. Riding position, however, on Bus is a bit more upright.
4. Wind protection on 12 is great at normal riding pos.
5. 12 gets the nod in handling dept.
6. 12 is invisible to gen public, Bus stands out.
