YUP there was no way HD had the money to engineer an OBDII or CanBus type system they needed to get their bikes past the EPA ........ but still not light years ahead of anyone else

It very well could be that they have to go to an authorized service center to have it mapped. I have friends that build about the best Harley exhaust, cams, and air intake on the market today and they showed me the remapping system in use and in detail on a dyno. I forgot to ask them if the owner could do his own programming.

I just looked and the Screaming Eagle (the harley half baked version) is ...... drum roll......$549.95

You guys make me laugh. Harley is still in the dark ages. Big fucking deal that you can tune the ECU. You still get no gain in performance. You get zero horsepower gain...only bragging rights. It's only about money in HD's pockets, nothing more. They've been playing this game for years and years...and it isn't about performance, because there is none. Last time i checked -- I could break my speedo restriction for under $100.00 too. There's no fucking way anyone will ever convince me that HD has more technology than any Jap bike. They don't even employ the use of a Canbus. Big technology advances there at HD.

i my self think they cheeped out going to the twin cam. after all the sporties have 4 cams for quite a long time and good valve train angles compared to the old evo single or twin cam.

And they are ALL ill handling slow pieces of crap. They have to be slow, because if they had a real motor the things would kill you the first time you leaned into a corner.

My Road King handles great at slow speeds. When your riding chicks around with there tops off at the rallys wit big tities wallowing around your ears, especially in the slow ride or the weenie grab you have to have low speed stability. Of all the bikes I have owned The H-D still is the best bike I have ever owned. but then I am not a Hater, I like all bikes. some serve a different purpose than others.

Which validates the point that ECU tuning is pretty much a waste. Unless you could program in some more vibration so the big titted, top off, passenger can use the vibes to get wetter.

yea I could care less if the ECU gets tuned to perfection. A set of pipes a K&N filter and one of those disposable ECU downloads and it's been good to go. And the BEST part is the saddle bags only look leather but are hard plastic and will hold a half a case of beer iced down on each side. Plus it comes standard with drain holes.

Actually it's a little box they sell you that conains a download for your ECU. It's a use once and throw away. can't remember how much it was. It was like a stage 2 download.

Lemme think now...my Sierra 2500HD Durmamax picked up 150 RWHP/240 RWTQ, just from tuning and exhaust. My ZX14 picked up 20 HP from tuning and exhaust...and my Connie picked up 30+ HP from all of the same...

To get beyond that, one would have to do what I did to my Road King, which was a complete motor rebuild, with new crank, pistons, cylinders, heads, mapping, etc...

I do understand all that...having been there and having done that all before.
