quote:I thought the same thing Ted although the euro models don't have the limiter.I think it's something in the topend valve spring or something. They should dyno and break in every single sport bike motor coming out of all the factories.
When I was at the HD factory a few years back - they were actually dyno testing each bike at full pin for 5-6 minutes straight...so I'd imagine that most if not all, perform the same tests. From my understanding though, it's not the engine you have to worry about breaking in, but more like the rest of the drive train, including the brake pads.
Yeah, but when you only make less than 1 hp for every 10 lbs, it is hard to break the drivetrain. Think of it as hitting an anvil with a feather. ____________

The big deal is that if they hadn't cut 2/3 of their workforce, let go off most of their great techs and product testers - then this probably wouldn't have happened. Couple that with an unrealistic delivery schedule - October instead of March the next year, and subcontracting components for the 10R to Thailand, and this is what you get.
So what should they have done? Completed testing and engineering the bike - THEN sold them.

Hmmm...,
Explain the 08 Honda literbike then?
Drinks oil like a 2 stroke, no recall and people still fighting for resolution.
Honda denied a problem, still does, but the 09 has 2 rings and no problem.
Is that the fine business model you speak of Fish?
Just dropped in to see if this forum & administrators was still full of Kawi haters.
I see it is.
I do agree it was done to avoid litigation and a industrial black eye.
Beats the Honda approach !!!
But when the bike is released and tested by unbiased testers it will be the finest Japanese 1000 yet. Full HP or not.
As good as the BMW or Aprilia ? We will see, huh
Motorcycle.coms review was quite favorable but that site carries little validity to Me.

Really? Did you know the Motorcycle.com is owned and operated by a marketing company. Did you know that the previous owner of Motorcycle.com sold it to that marketing company and he now works for Freeman & McCue - Kawasaki's marketing agency?
I bet the bike got a favorable review from them, wouldn't you? ____________ What business is it of yours where I'm from, Friendo?

Dat bike is a bad mofo. Technical hold, Schmechnical hold. If I had one, I'd hold on to it until Kawi had a new one ready for me. In the meantime, I'd be beatin' the piss out of it.
Atleast one of your buddies got his hands on one before the hold, didn't they Fish?
What's he doin' with it?

i like how the dyno guy said the bike that got 185 was a A1 zx12. still sick the 10 has 174 there with over 100lb less weight.

Makes no fucking difference when you're running an HD V-twin at close to 6K RPM... which is like running a 10R at 20K RPM... ____________

Yeah and with a hard hitting 63 hp things get exciting fast. Having to use a calender to measure 0-60 times.

The '08 KLR does the exact same as the HONDA you described, its common knowledge. I'm missing the point here you are making?

Well, if you have dealt with the injection tuning...then you know how advanced they are compared to the jap stuff. Not worth arguing here...you can look it up if need be.
