handling issue

Ok so i am facing some handling issues with the bike. The 12r.

During turns its not exactly leaning properly.like it used to do earlier.I have taken the bike out after close to 6 months.

Also i was always on michelin pilot powers 2CT but because of unavailability this time the rear is on a Metzeler. The sportec something.Same size and aspect ratio though.

Now what is happening is that

1.it does not want to lean in.does not want to turn in.
2.its wallowing in the middle of a high speed turn.

This is leading to me taking the turn too wide.

What could be the probable reason?:

Suspension not getting upto speed since its been sitting for 6 months?
New tire has these properties?
Are the wheels not in alignment?

How do i check whether the wheels are aligned to each other or not?
tell me a DIY method please.

regards

Navpreet

First things first: check Your tire pressures. If the bike has sat for 6 months - they're probably off.

Yep; 1st thing to check.

Then wheel alignment if its wobbling. Mine didn't ever do that...

Third all wheel fasteners on both forks/swingarm; expecially if u just mounted tire.

Oh, BTW, hi all. Haven't been around much after selling my 00' after 10yrs ownership.

Been riding the ZRX1200 but still miss the big'ole beastie Ninja, cheers...

the wheels dont get aligned,, you want to align the rear wheel and the swingarm,, make like the front wheel isnt even there,, i have a tool that slips thru the swingarm pivot bolt and the rear axle and then i make sure the distance is identical while obtaining proper chain slack,, you would be surprized how off the marks on the swingarm are!

Problem finally solved. It was the air pressure.Rear was at 30.and the front was at 20.filled in air to 40 psi both and then took it on a small neighborhood spin and man the change was day and night.

Thank you tuusinii!!

Good to hear. It's a good habbit of checking the pressures every other week - if not more frequently. Enjoy - we're having tomorrow about 10cm of snow so no riding in next 5 months...

Oh thats bad.For us though the riding season has just begun.riding in cold weather keep us comfortable and without sunburns too.Plus the bikes make a wee bit more power with the cold winter air.hehehe...probably heading into the mountains on sunday. An 2010 'busa, my 12 and maybe a couple of more litre bikes.12 really kicks ass.
