17t Front
Hey guys,
As most of you know - I'm not too smart when it comes to motorcycle mechanics - ESPECIALLY the FI details, so I need some help. If I switch my front sprocket to a 17 tooth, do I need to re-map my powercommander? I have the PERFECT map now (produces about 178 HP and over 100 Ft LBS torque) and I would HATE to screw with it. Here are my details:
2000 GREEN '12
Muzzy full exhaust
PC-IIIr with map from Doug
K&N Filters
NO KLEEN AIR
I'm also thinking about the Bear stacks... but that is for the spring. THanks in advance.

n0 mapping is needed for gear change. the thing to look at is your speedometer will read diffrent it will show faster than it really is. there are some eletronic devices out there that can correct that. this may be important because the newer models are set up to read off the trainsmission speed and gear to limit your top end speed muzzy has a device for the 01 and newer that will set the limiter free

You need to get a yellow box as yer speedo will read incorrectly... You wont need to re-map

as above you won't need a new map, but you might need an impact wrench...

Thanks guys . I think that decides it for me - 17T front, 180 rear tire and Bear Stacks for the Spring. Lets see if I can hit 180 HP!!!

Yeah....

The 17t will definitely make wheelies a part of every ride. My bike is geared 17/47 and it's a unicycle. Love it.........
I am toying with the idea of putting the stock rear sprocket back on, I dunno yet.

My front sprocket nut came right off by hand,no problem at all.I've heard many guys cursing 'em on this and other boards.
I like the 17,nice,easy 2nd gear roll-on wheelies.

I just got a SS 17toother; but it doesn't appear to be the same width. Do you need spacers/washers or something???

EBD - the thickness of the stock sprocket is due to the large amount of damping material they put on it to keep the noise down. The new one should line up the same.
