I didn't change mine, but it was out of adjustment. Symptoms were rough idle, frequent stalling at stop lights, when I would get on the gas it would sometimes have a bad hesitation like the ignition was turned off for a split second, backfires on decel, surging when trying to run at a constant speed.
There is a thread on here with really good instructions for adjusting it, but if you've tried that then maybe it is shot. I think the service manual has procedures for testing it. You'll need a digital voltmeter to adjust it properly.

Not personally but my friend is just about to change it - we allready have a new one. The sumptons were bad running and when testing the sensor was way off - something like 1,6V when it should be 1,084V at idle. We adjusted it to the right valua but this year it went back to high.... So check Your voltage and that the transition is smooth when You open the throttle. And there is also an upper limit in the manual.

doug points out on that thread that there are 2 completely different operations discussed
1. setting the TPS of the bike, then afterwards
2. setting the TPS for the Powercommander
(if you don't have a PC, then ignore those comments)
