DGV DATES FINAL AND CABIN INFO
All right everybody...
Here's the deal... the weekend of the May 9-11 is when DGV is going to be taking place, by my ubderstand that covers everyone for the holiday as well as the Maxton weekend. Me and the bunch will be arriving on the afternoon of the 4th.
Where to stay...
We have had a great time staying at the cabins which turn out to be much cheaper then the hotel and super close to foothills parkway.
WE ET AL are going to be in cabin #9 which is not where we stayed last year but some A-hole reserved it already. The two sites are about a mile or two apart, but there are surrounding cabins to 9 (Which we call the "SMACKHOUSE").
Please call Molly and ask her for those cabins it would be nice to have everyone together.
Roomies,
As far as I know the organial Smackhouse will have the usual occupants and you'll should get together with memebers and get those details worked out.
Cabins,
The website you need to goto is...
http://www.blountweb.com/smlc/index.html
You will find out everything you need to know there.
Can't wait to see everyone.
Peace,
Barto

I can see "Daddy" is gonna have to shine his shoes on you little punk ass boys' asses. (Otis & Bartina) Lighten up biatches. Although I will side with Chris if you have fucked us up Bart. As far as I'm concerned there is only one "Smackhouse", and we were there last September. But we'll have a large time again I'm sure. If we don't IT'S ALL BART'S FAULT,....END OF DISCUSSION !!!!

It didn't cost me anywhere near $2000 dollars to stay there for a week. It's a lot cheaper and nicer staying at the cabins. Not that many people have expressed interest in going on the threads so far. I'm going even if it's only a few. It's too much fun to pass up.

Well, I wouldnt miss it for the world, but the expense of the last few times I've gone was a bit of a shock. I believe I'm going to be camping... maybe that will allow me to stay for more than a weekend. So what if I cant see Bart hump a cat, I'm going up there to ride not watch a freek show.

Red, the cabins may not be best suited for everyone. As far as 30 people showing up? I don't see it. If it happens, great, but I still don't see that many coming. Bart is just supplying information so if anyone wants to stay at the cabins they can. If youre planning to go for a week and can't get any others to commit a week to share the cabin with you then stay at the Hotel for the first part then come saty at a cabin for the last weekend. Rick's done that a couple times and I did that once. The cabins are cheaper than the hotel if you have enough guys to split it. Last Sept I stayed in the cabin Wed, Thur, Fri and Sat and I think I paid like $150. Better than $79 a night and MUCH nicer. Hopefully, it'll all get sorted out for you. The other thing is we really don't want to have an "organized" event like DGI. No one wants to be responsible for it, and rightly so IMHO. DGI was great but, and I speak myself and I know a couple others when I say we don't want to have group leaders and everything structured, ride with you want, where you want and as fast as you want, go eat when you want, go to Gatlinburgh if you want. We will probably do that again too, it was a blast. If 30 people want to come down and ride, great, if you want to stay at a hotel or at a cabin or camp, it doesn't matter. There are a couple great restaurants right down the street from the cabins, Timbers is an excellent one that can easily take a group of 30-40.
And obviously Red I'd love it and I'm sure the other Smackhouse attendees would love it if everyone who came would stay at the cabins. If that's not possible, that's Ok too.

Cabins, Weed, and all other things of interest...
The cabins may not be for everyone. For me, and the entire "Smackhouse" crew it's perfect. The locale is excellent. You are just a few minutes from the Foothills Parkway, or you can just as easily hit Little River Road (sweet road btw) and start making your way to the Blue Ridge Parkway. (fucking awesome) Another issue that must be addressed is we "Smackhouse" occupants are of a hard partying nature. This also makes the cabins much more attractive to us, you are more or less out in the country and you can raise hell all night if you'd like. In September we sat out on that front porch and laughed our asses off every night until the am. That to me was just as satisfying as the rides, which were excellent too. It was ALL good.
Now, about the supposed "30" or more attendees: "Won't ever happen IMHO". If it does that's great, there is quite a bit of lodging available in Townsend. I will personally help anyone who is wanting to go that can't find a room. Granted I may not be able to do much, but I can dial a phone just as good as the next guy. I'd like to see a lot of people show up for the event, but I won't be devastated if they don't. The more the merrier. (sp?) But when it comes to the rides more people ain't my gig. I'm ridin' with the "Smackhouse" boyz (yes Bart, that includes you ), they follow my lead and I don't have to worry about running too "Hot" of a pace. These fuckers are like me, they wanna go, and they wanna go NOW!! Plus they trust me and my judgement far more than they should. Of course all of this goes out the window when Lucky decides to fucking pass me on the Cherohala with such ease it makes you go......DAMN!!!! He's a fast smooth rider, and if you don't tuck down and get in the zone he'll run off and hide from you. That boy can ride, when your behind him watch how smooth the guy's lines are, and note the fact that you rarely ever see him touch the brakes.
I'm rambling I know, but the point I'm attempting to make is that I don't care if 10 people show up, I'm still gonna be there. It's on them, make it happen. If you want to come, then get up off your duff and do it. If we run out of cabins, then as I stated earlier I'll try and help any of the guys find lodging in the Townsend area. I've been staying in Townsend for years because it's really a great location and it is a VERY small town with very little traffic. As far as the routes we take on our rides, and the things we like to do after the rides, I don't think we can top the cabins in Townsend.
If anyone needs assistance email me rellis@ecsis.net
I prefer 1.5s to 1.25s, and remember "Puff - Puff - Give" don't fuck up the rotation.

Humm, I'm going to have to think about your post before responding Red. Obviously, you have missed the point Rick and I were trying to make. If you think for one minute that anyone is not welcome than you don't really know us, if you think for one minute we wouldn't wait for you or anyone else, that's bullshit, and you can ask Bart about that cause we wait for him all the time.....
Our point is simple and was learned from the first three events. Efen if there are 30-40 people that show up, everyone is not going to want to go at the same time, go the same places or ride with the same people so what's the point in trying to.....oh I'll let Rick pick this up.

FUCKING WAHHhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Look Sherman, I'd like to consider you a friend, so let me give you some friendly advice. Lighten the fuck up, life is to short to sweat all these minute details like you do. If you get pissed, so be it, I'd rather you ate a big slice of "Humble Pie". We don't want to exclude anyone, nor would we just ride off and leave you in our dust and never wait on you. Talk about some bullshit, you're a grown man fucking act like one or go put on a fucking dress.
Once again I am saying this for YOUR on good. Get some reservations, load your shit and come on. You'll have a good time. If you want to get all fucked up by the way things have shaken out it's your choice to do so. You're fucking yourself out of a good time if you do though. If you want to flame me for what I've said you can, I'm a big boy and can handle it. Just remember I am honestly trying to get you to lighten up. I'll call this post a "Tough Love" post, and I mean that sincerely. Think about your reply before you type some shit that may make things not so kosher between us. I honestly don't want that and I don't think you do either. You are an intelligent guy Sherm, lighten up,.....breath a little and realize that this is all about having fun. How the fuck can you have fun if you are jumping thru your own ass worrying about every little detail. Townsend is on the map, anyone can find it, I've offered my assistance to anyone who needs it, and above all "IT WILL ALL WORK OUT". Trust me on this one man,...please.
You know me, I'll tell you the same thing face to face. I mean well, even if I do sound a bit harsh.

We see both sides of this, and we think it's early enough in the year for this to all work out so this is the best event yet.
Townsend and the cabins is a good place to gather, especially for the socializing aspect as well as the starting point for exploring all the roads in the area. The cabins are off the main road and there is camping there as well. Near by is plenty of gas stations, grocery stores, restuarants, tourist traps, and a very nice Best Western (within 2 miles) that is $45 through the week and $ 60 on the weekends. There are 138 rooms in that hotel so that should take care of the concerns we have for people needing to wait til the last minute to see if they can come. The info for Best Western in Townsend TN and the phone number is 1-800-528-1234.
The goal right now is for every one who is interested in coming down to meet up with each other to start making plans given the dates that have been set. By having a discussion on this forum, we can see how many are coming, when they are coming, if any one wants to get a cabin together, and make arrangements. Any newbie that comes will be well taken care of when it comes to getting around and smothered with brotherly love. As the numbers who will attend start to grow, we will all look at what needs to become more structured to ensure that things run smoothly. Us locals, as well as the smackhouse gang will do that for sure.
So, who is thinking about coming? Looking forward to seeing all the old and the new! Lucky12 and Melissa

LET'S SOME SHIT STRAIGHT!!!!!!
In the matter of fare play I am going to address this using a two-pronged approach.
The first area I will address is to that of the Board Members; the second will be to my "Old Pal" Red.
So here we go.
Here Ye, Here Ye, All Board Member's and possible DGV attendees.
The trip is in the past have required much hard work and dedication by many people to make sure the "event's" have gone well. I personal don't think that Mark, Melissa, and Red should have to invest the time to do so. It is after all something they should enjoy as much as all of us.
So the last two trips have been low key with everyone understanding a general order of how things are going to take place, where we are meeting and usually a group dinner toward the end of the week, not difficult to put together.
So you are asking yourself, well that's great but I am traveling to a place I have never been and conceivable staying with people I don't know and naturally I am somewhat leery of that.
You shouldn't be nor should you think you are not going to have a clue as to where to ride and who to meet.
Mark is a full time resident of the best riding this side of the Old Mississippi, and "ALWAYS BUT ALWAYS" makes sure that groups of riders at different levels have a guide and get to see the best of the best.
SO DON'T THINK FOR ONE SECOND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE ONE OF THE BEST RIDING TRIPS EVER!!!!!"
The only way you are not going to have a great is if you try not to, shit the trip I wreaked I still had fun (but I'm a little crazy, or so people say).
Melissa has posted some alternative housing options and they will be close enough for everyone to enjoy both the riding as well as our evening's events.
NOW FOR YOU SHERM...
My first impression was to crack open a 40oz. Of SHUT THE FUCK UP but I digress.
I can fully appreciate the time and effort that you have put into the Gap Trip's and apologize for not consulting you more in reference to this up coming trip. TRULY I DO!
My intentions where not to alienate you from the planning stages one iota, the last two trips we have just kind had the this is where we are going to be and this is our general plan's if it works great if not later.
You have become a friend over the last few trips and hate to see you stressing about something that A) is still months away and B) is always such a great time for all.
You have always been a valued member of trips and truly hope your initial response was that of feeling left out of the process and not truly thoughts about not coming in May.
I think you should be getting my point, and am not going to belabor it further.
I look forward to seeing you in the spring.
Love,
Barto
Sherm P.S. IT'S STILL GOING TO BE ASS COME MAY BROTHER.
One other thing when I run spell check it wants to change your name to SPERM, Hummm.
