Lubricity had posted a "mildly adult oriented" picture and I edited it.
The reasons are simple and have been stated over and over again. As quoted from a previous post on one of Lubricity's threads I edited.
The "moderator's guidelines" on this has been posted several times, like this...
As for pornography (aka adult oriented material), I think that this aspect is one of the most vivid example of the forum's ability to police itself. My policy concerning this is simply that it belongs in specifically marked threads and is under no circumstances to be posted in a technically oriented thread. I have never said or implied that one could not post such material. It is the general membership, not I, that has made the choice not to post such material.
On this issue, I chose this guideline to protect the members viewing this forum at their place of employment. If such an image were to appear on a technically oriented titled thread and someone was viewing it at work, sure enough, the boss or some "I'm a sexually harassed female employee" would walk by. The results could easily be termination of the forum member's employment.
Now I would like such future posts to use the "XXX" icon WITH the IMAGE WARNING statement, just so it is clear on what the thread's content actually is. I think that would only be a fair request (which can just as easily turn into a mandate), seeing as how such images have be absent from this site for so long.
The bottom line is that the guidelines I have set on such not only governs those that post here, but they govern me as well. Since my guidelines have been in place, without change, since I became the moderator, the only way I would consider a major change to them is if Mad Dog, Fish or frEEk to me to do so.
As I said before, I do feel the "XXX" icon needs to be used in conjunction with the warning statement on all future posts of this nature. That's why the icon was added to the option list in the first place. The forum members can consider this a minor addition to the guidelines and will be required, as well as enforced, on future adult oriented posts.
I have let him slide on not using the "XXX" icon and I've also let him slide on just using "IMAGE" instead of "IMAGE WARNING" in the thread's title. In this case, he didn't even use the word "IMAGE" in the title.
Even though a thread authored by Lubricity has become associated with adult oriented images, as of lately... "Rules" are just that. RULES. The whole purpose of this rule is based on the second paragraph of my quote.
Again, I have ABSOLUTELY nothing against Lubricity or his posting of such images. Just as long as he follows the forum's simple guidelines. That's all I ask.

I really appreciate the little red "xxx''s. Sometimes I read the board with my son running in and out of the office.............I do not like a suprise of adult material when my son is around.....
The red 'xxx' with the post also gives caution for some people that view this at work!!!!
No problem on the Porn...........Doesn't bother me at all!!! Just gimme a couple xxx's so I know!!!!

on the idea of Warnings, I willsay that its not the post whoring or even the porn that I dont like to see......its all the profanity. Its one thing whenits all in fun, but quite another when it has malitious intent......just a thought rom the peanut gallery.......Jim
