jet coating vs wrapping vs nada
Just took delivery of my new Yosh RS3 pipes and have been reviewing the threads on jet coating, wrapping or nada.
Any body have any experience with any of the above.
It seems to me that the issue is one of exhaust gas temperature. If the gases are hotter due to lower losses through the pipe walls then other things should be less hot, like plastics, etc. If this is beneficial and there are no other problems then wrapping seems to be the most effective both performance and cost wise.

I am running a full Ti system (TiForce) and have not wrapped it. That said I have read the many theories on wrapping the pipes etc. My suggestion is if you are inclined to wrap or cot your pipe; coat it. Coating is pretty dog gone cheap. Performance Coatings charged me $40 to coat my exhaust system on my XX. They have charged my friends about $40 or so for their RC51 systems. The coating works, it looks good, and doesn't collect crap like the wrapping does. I have also taken the time to coat my oil pan as well.

I agree with Z on this one. One big advantage to coating is that they also coat the inside of the pipes. When they do this, you don't get the long-term carbon buildup on the inner walls like you do without the coating. Eventually this carbon buildup will slightly restrict the flow.

I have a set of pipes on my Vmax which are coated and they look great after a lot of use and a hot engine. So I agree for looks and longevity jet coating, especially for visible pipes is probably the way to go. However for performance and reduction in heat loads to the surrounding parts, wrapping is the way to go, IMHO .
BTW Z, surprised at the cost, $40 is very good.

We coated the pipes, oil pan, water pump housing and the exhaust cans with ceramic on my AMA HRC RC51. We did it for Daytona because the bikes on running wide open for almost the entire race. The coating scavenaged the heat and the bke ran coler as a result then without. Also the exhaust cans survived the heat as the usual issue with Carbon cans at Daytona is they are toast after the race.

I've had my header wrapped since day one,,not sure of any performance gains but the header stays allot cooler!!Not hard to do and I got the complete kit from Summit Racing!!

From what I have heard, it seems you are not supposed to wrap any Ti system. The wrapping will hold in heat and break down the Ti (supposedly) or something like that. My mech called Muzzy and they told him not to wrap my Ti for that reason.

Isnt the stock setup on the 12 made up of stainless steel headers with a titanium pipe?
