Big motor guyz: check the starter clutch
All o' yuze guys up north who are watching the snow fall and tearing into yer motors, give a look at yer starter clutch. Mine is toast and its a bitch getting it out. Also, the gear w/the outer cage is on backorder from Kwak...
just a thought

That was my BIGGEST concern with the 1361 I built because...he ALSO has one of "those PCs" that STOPS the motor sometimes when he starts it

I have found that by retarding the timing to a -8 degrees at 0 throttle position the Power Commander / starting phenomenon is minimized!

I tried retarding the timing at the 0 throttle position on mine. It didn't seem to do any good. Sometimes when my bike is cold, it spins over fine, it just doesn't want to crank real easy. Think it may be time to send the PC back.

what's yer compression pressure???
I have never measured mine, but me thinks it might be on the high side. After the starter clutch goes in, i'll finally get around to a compression test.

have you encountered a 12 with toasted starter clutch???

Not a clue, Karl. I'm sure that has a lot to do with the problem though. Since my cam timing makes my bike peak rather late in the power band, I'd assume my cranking pressue is less that normal. Cam timing set for more bottom end will usually result in more psi.

yes I would like to know that your guys compression pressure is also? when I get my 1361 back together I would like to compaire, and what is your guys cam timing? I set mine at 105/103....
Man I am ready to get my crank back and get this thing back together.

i believe my cams (Lee's) are set at 105/107 now; they were at 107/110. I have not yet dyno tuned the new motor. I am more interested in the shape of the hp curve with the new settings than absolute numbers.

I think mine are at 105/107 also. I'll borrow a gauge next month after I get my ZRX motor back together and check em both.
