zx12r piston specs

Weird question but I am dead serious about needing some data. I know just this about the slugs, they are 83mm. I need 83mm pistons for a Nissan engine I am building but I need a pin height of between 27-28mm to make this stroker thing happen without them kissing the head.

CA18DE out of a Silvia. I am stroking it with an 88mm crank and the pistons stick out to far goshdarnit!

Watch out for excessive rod angles when using a piston with a short pin height and short skirts. Piston design is a function of rod angle and mean piston speed while taking into account thermal loads. Try to keep the mean piston speed less than 5000 fpm and a pin height of no less than 15% of ther rods center to center. Skirt loading can be very high on an application like this. You are making huge changes on the dynamic load of the piston.
If you do come up with a combo that is workable but on the edge of lateral load, I wouldnt hit the pistons with NO2 or you will most likely break a skirt.

Your best bet is to call JE and give them ALL of the numbers on this combo and have a set of pistons made. They will do the math for you and the end result will be a stronger engine and you can hit the pistons with plenty of NO2. They can port the pistons for you also if you decide to go over 5000 fpm mean piston speed.
Good luck.

I have yet to find a piston with the right pin height they are all at or larger than my current 30mm. Me thinks that's a hint! I guess I will try to get the size out of the bore. I am trying to throw it together on the cheap because I enjoy doing weird stuff but the issue you bring up has been on my mind. I think it might rock under boost and do exactly that, break a skirt. Thanks for the help though.
