Motorcyclist Long Term Update on the ZX-12R

From January's Issue:

....As I inch toward the 6000 mile point I continue to be amazed at the ZX-12R's Jekyll and Hyde personality. One minute it's smooth, comfortable and refined (especially with the slightly higher and wonderfully finished Heli Bars installed), and the next it's a top fuel drag bike - capable of 0-to-100 mph in about the time it takes to mutter "Oh s***!" Back in the day we used to call the Yamaha FJ1100 the "velvet hammer," though this thing is a MUCH better example. I'm beginning to think the 160-horsepower ZX-12R is one of the best streetbikes ever minted............

The article goes on from there. I wondered what was wrong with these people that rode basically the same bike and didn't rave about it when it first arrived. Then it dawned on me, their test bike is a Candy Thunder Blue 2002.

I read that article the other week, almost bought it but it wasnt long enough for my buckaroos....Z read my mind about that blue 12.

If I remember right about the early reviews of the blue 12, that Kawi changed from the "Lightning Blue" and called the blue 12 a "Candy Blue" which saddened me dearly. It doesnt look as bad as the black not knowing it's violet, and the new skittle lime green that makes me feel like Kawi literally lost its colors.

Be good to the blue, it will be good to you. It's like the day the blue M&M came out, we all knew something special was upon us. Something magical. Blue is the fast color, there are many other like it but this one is mine. Wuhahahaha.....

The reason they like it so much is they don't expect so much out of a blue bike. When it is green the bar is raised much higher.

Beans, I HAD a red one, I now have a blue. Just a FYI, the red ones can't fly..... well take that back, they do fly but they don't land well.

TurboBlew, admit it, if you could get a blue one you'd have one... blue is for rainbow flags, right, head to Disney on those days and all you see is red.

Ted, I agree, I just like to be different.

There is no denying that Green is faster. It is a proven fact. It is so obvious. If Einstein was alive he would agree. The laws of physics say so. Geeze.

and if you need a color change, then...

...black...black attacks...like a ninja

of course you could be 'different'...yeah, sure, go ahead...

...red...lol...red gives head...
...blue...heh heh...as in blue jobs (see red)...
...silver...as in sequins...uh huh...ok, nancy-boy

...the bottom line is: Anything Kawasaki is associated with the color Green, whether is candy green, lime green, florescent green, hot green, puke green, booger green, or whatever you choose to call it...riders who really know what a Kawasaki is at least know and understand that...the rest of you nancys just like pretty colors, no matter what bike you ride...hey Harley has pretty colors, too
