I can see where I have made a mistake. I should have put together my election campaign, brought in the fund raisers, raised millions, bought everyone new toys etc. etc. This campaigning stuff is expensive!

Once someone nominates someone, the nominee has to confirm they accept the nomination.
So they know what is going on.
