2 users managed to vapourize their accounts here....
ninjawarriorzx1200r and helenwheels (or something like that) both took it upon themselves to edit out their email addys from their profiles, prompting the system to puke them out and force them to re-register... I did send them some warnings telling them they needed the email address filled out or they would have no way of retrieving passwerds etc, but of course without an email address for them I'm sure the mail never made it.... freek and maddog have locked the email portion of the member profiles to prevent this from happening again, so anyone who wishes to change their email address needs to contact admin......
for the security minded, your email address can be made "private" in your profile so no one can see it.... it *is* however vital that you use a *valid* email address for the board software to function correctly...
.... I'm just letting you all know since this is tied into their posts vapourizing from the "hans cf" thread.... no it wasnt censored... those 2 users just buggered up the system a little.. that's all...

why are these users trying to login again with bogus emails? I just had to delete "helenwheels" as she used another bogus email addy.......
why?

Speaking of easyboard and e-mails: I can't seem to turn off the e-mail notification crap. Changing it in my profile doesn't work. Every time I check my e-mail I have 20 messages saying I have replies to my posts. Fish? Little help?

well first off,.... this ISNT EZBoard... it's far from it....
now to your problem... in your profile you have to turn OFF "email notification of new posts".... you selected that so the software is bombarding you... just turn it off and it'll stop...

Oops. I meant bikeland. Hope I didn't offend. Anyway, I tried about ten times to check "no" for that feature to no avail. Reckon you could pull some administrator magic and fix that up? Much obliged.

it's an overall security issue.. .This is the easiest way for us to solve it right now without too much reprogramming..
members are still more than welcome to change their email addresses in their profiles... to do so they must simply email us a request with a valid email address....
by the way... the rules clearly state that you need to provide a valid email address.... everyone else is playing nicely, so should they.
not much to ask for a free forum IMHO.

You know, I am just starting this up again because I think I have been treated awfully unfairly here. I have nothing to do with this ninjawarrior guy except to buy a Monster Snorkle for my 12.... I didn't deliberately eliminate my e mail address, just didn't want your charming members filling my mailbox with God knows what. And when I went to obediently put my e-mail address back in, I used a different e-mail address (I have several, don't you?) because I forgot which one I had used, and now Mr. Fish Antlers is yelling at me again. What is the matter with you people??? Loosen up....

Also I tend to agree that the Monster looks sort of unfinished.... for my $500 I would have liked to see a lip or something around the opening.... but to tell you the truth, what sold me was seeing the 5 piece stock snorkle next to the one piece Monster. No way it wasn't going to work better, without all the incredible restrictions built into the stock model. I mean, really. But yeah, it sure could have had a tad more tweak for the money, I agree.

...helen...you shoulda' studied what was going on more carefully before you posted your garbage...this is a very tough crowd...I'm pretty sure that most of the riders here have more important things to think about on a daily basis than the garbage you and dildo posted, BUT while we're all here, things can get pretty instense...the riders WILL get in your face whether its behind the keyboard or in person...its just the way it is...we all can choose to leave or stay...you may have to earn some respect (at what ever level as all of us have here)...you slammed a respected member...you called us assholes...we fired back...you gotta know the differences between opinions, fishing, and personal attacks...like I said, tough crowd...

We have no idea what sort of argument you were involved in with the other members (it appears to be heated though)...... all we know is that we at admin discovered 2 members missing required information....... because of this we acted quickly to close a security loophole which we didnt realize existed.
We do, however disagree with you helen... you DID infact "deliberately eliminate" your email address. It was done very purposefully. You also tried several times to login afterwards with other bogus email addresses. When that failed you then created another username, which we have record of, as a backup so that you could lurk this site. You then finally logged back on with your original username.

This creates a level playing field, which was our goal when we moved the site. No one has the advantage of anonymity here. No user can take advantage of internet anonymity on this site to harass others. This means that users on this site think before they type (we hope).
Out of our current 500 + members, all but the 2 above provided valid email address information. Both users deleted there contact information so that we at admin had no record of them. One of the users tried several times to reactivate their account with invalid/ false email addresses. The two users in question were simply made to comply with the same rules that the other 500+ members already have.
Once again, every member here can easily hide their email address by making it private in their profiles. What we will not tolerate are bogus email addresses and fake user accounts. That would be unfair to the membership.
As for the battle the rest of you are having with helen.. please take it to another thread... this thread was only meant to inform members of a security breach, and response... please dont confuse it with an arguement you are all having.
