Power commanders
Does anyone have a power commander they are using with a stock bike, I noticed muzzy has a map for a stock bike or with filter change. I ride an 02 it is stock with 3500 mi.

I have no complaints about how it runs, can it be improved or should I leave it alone.

I didn't mean to be talkin to myself here but I keep thinking of other stuff. Sometimes I find myself halfway to work on the freeway and realize I have one gear to go,(guess I could gear it down a bit huh.) I don't want that thing screaming down the highway but is there a lower gear combo that will still be very streetable but not too agressive?

Generally speaking you can take a stock bike, put a Power Commander on it and remap the bike and see increased performance. Remember the stock bike is shall we say mapped per the average. So fine tunning will get you more. I have seen a 5 hp change on a stock bike.
Often times you will see a bump in horsepower when someone puts a pipe on their bike and has it rejetted or remapped. A significant amount of the horsepower increase is often a result of the rejetting or remapping more so then the new pipe.
As for gearing change to a 17 tooth on the front and go a tooth bigger on the rear. Your bike will rock. And it is very unlikely that you will notice the somewhat lower top end speed. a 17/47 gear set-up will still let you hit something like 184. And your 02 is limited to that or abouts anyway!

Thanks Zhoo, I was thinking the same thing, I don't really want to make the bike any louder than stock and the couple extra pounds don't bother me. So a PCIIIr is the way to go. Where do I get a good deal on sprockets. I might just go one down in the front and then wait til my tire is worn out to change the rear.

So a Muzzy map is a good choice? Are there any other options, I think SWFT talked about a dyno one time. Does he have one?

O.K so tell me what to install and I'll make time to come down, Maybe after the first of the year( money is kind of tight right now) Again, I would like to stay with stock exhaust unless there is no way around it. Even just maybe filters PC3r and gearing?

Dirt bike
Oh, and by the way, I think I have found a loophole with the whole dualsport thing cause my CR250 came from Canada it does not say "for off road use only on the title" The ones from here do. Just a thought, yet to be proved

i regeared my bike to 17/47 and i could not believe how fast i was at the redline in each gear; which is awesome, but also means that you gotta do a lot more shifting, quickly. i'm sure the 48 rear would be even faster, but geez 1.3 seconds per gear is ridiculous.
took me a few days to really get the feel back for how the bike spins through each gear. when i put on a hindle or akra, i might actually go back to stock gearing just so that i can savor each gear a little more.

That's exactly what I experienced when I went to a 17t. I miss savoring each gear. Now it's just wam bam thank you man, and I'm done

If I had a completely stock bike, I don't think I'd put a PC3 on it. Their failure rate seems to high to me and they can leave you virtually stranded if it should fail. If you're looking looking for more power, try a full exhaust system without the pc3. I love my 16/46 gearing. You really don't get much more acceleration with the lower gearing but it certainly feels that way since you have to shift much more often. Makes roll ons a thing of beauty!

hey Z got a question, what gearing should i run for and 1/8th mile....amd running stock right now, and I knwo its WAY to high, I have to short shift to get 3rd gear....am not a serious racer, and I spend a lot of miles on the street? Would liek to get the most out of what I have done to it already, which is a fully muzzy system, PCIII and K&N filter, I dont plan on using straps or links, just kinda run what ya brung thing.....

I'm not an 1/8 mile guy. We run the 1/4 in our neck of the woods. I run a 17/47 on my 1361. When it was stock I played with a 17/48 and the thing ripped. If you are going to run the strip and street with the same gearing I wouldn't go with anything lower then the 17/48. But the 17/48 puts your top end in the 175 zone.
