Here's a totally depressing article... man... when your numbers up, it's up....

quote:
Trade Center survivors killed in plane tragedy
Another loses wife, child

Michael Friscolanti
National Post, with files from news services

Two World Trade Center employees who managed to escape from the crumbling towers on Sept. 11 were among the passengers who died when American Airlines Flight 587 crashed into a New York neighbourhood.

And a man injured while escaping the twin towers collapse lost his wife and three-year-old daughter in the plane tragedy.

Hilda Yolanda Mayor, who worked at a ground-floor doughnut shop in the centre, was able to flee the building before it collapsed on Sept. 11. She was on her way to visit family in the Dominican Republic on Monday when the Airbus A300 crashed.

"She was my treasure," her mother, Virginia Hernandez, said from the family's home near San Pedro de Macoris.

Mrs. Mayor's two children had left for the Dominican Republic two weeks earlier and she was on her way there to meet them.

"We were going to make a meal," Mrs. Hernandez said. "We were going to have all the family together."

Felix Sanchez, a 29-year-old financial consultant who also perished in the crash, had recently left his job at Merrill Lynch, emptying out his desk in the World Trade Center the day before suicide hijackers killed nearly 5,000 of his colleagues.

On Monday, he was flying to Santo Domingo to meet with clients for his new career -- a financial adviser to Dominican baseball players.

"After the World Trade Center, he had a renewed outlook on life," said Sid Wilson, a close friend who was involved with Mr. Sanchez in a group called Dominicans on Wall Street. "And the last time I saw him, he was so high on life. I can't believe this."

Ana Nova, a Dominican schoolteacher in the Bronx, who turned 47 on Monday, said: "My brother-in-law Rafael Hernandez had to have surgery on his leg because of the injuries he suffered while trying to escape the twin towers on Sept. 11.

"And on top of that this happens, he loses his wife, his three-year-old daughter, and his other two kids become orphans. The poor man is panicked. You can't talk to him about anything, and he can't look at a plane."

Also included in the death toll of 265 is Bronx resident Mercedes Valoy, the daughter of Dominican singing legend Cuco Valoy.

Her three children also perished.

Not to be wierd or anything...but here goes...
Sunday I was in Vegas and I did everything I could to not take my plane back home...I made my friend miss his earlier flight and he couldn't move the ticket cause it was through travelocity...we procrastinated and then made Avis reservations...

I felt good that I was gonna drive home to San Diego...4-6 hour drive or something...even checked on a limo cause I made out good on the blackjack table...

I just had a bad feeling about it flying...shit, I flew the next Thursday after the 11th when the nation was still f*ed up about everything in life and I felt better then.

We got to the airport about 1.5 hours before my flight...
before we went in to Avis, he called the airline and the price for a one way matched the price for a rental + gas.

I bought him a one way to San Diego so we didn't have to drive(5 hours sleep all weekend)...anyway...I've flown at least a dozen times since the 11th and I didn't want to get on the plane...but I didn't want to drive that tired...too many people die driving like that home from Vegas.....

So I get home safe and sound...morning rolls around and the woman wakes me up to tell me a plane crashed...airbus 300...same kinda plane I was on...

Coincidence that I was freaked....never been freaked before on a flight...

Oh yeah...I also knew what cards the BJ deale was gonna throw.....2075 profit on $20 hands all weekend....I called he cards as he threw them.....had a 12...told the dealer to give me my 2, he did, then told him to give me my 7, he did...he looked at me strange...and then I had a 12 and told him to give me my king so I could bust and he did...weird shit

Another victim was a sailor from the USS Enterprise. They were gone for fucking ever and made the big televised return to home only for him to jump on a plane to see the folks and BOOM...lights out. It just ain't fair.
