The New 999 Ducati
Looked the new 999 Duc over closely today. Brothers Powersports has one on the floor. I have read all of the various articles out on the bike. According to the experts they have all said it is a much better looking bike in person than the pictures make it out to be.
It is better looking then the pictures make it out to be. BUt with that said it is still ugly. Looking at it from the rear it actually looks pretty good. The muffler on it is like the MV it is basically a ugly muffler made to look like it is something else. Definitely would have to be replaced. The tail section piece is actually very nice. The best part of the bike. The license plate support is typical Ducati... butt ugly!. From the side the bike looks a lot like a 900 Supersport. Including the integrated tank protection pad ala the 900. So if you liked the 900 go for it but if you thought the 996 or 998 was good looking you will hate this one! The new front end has two projector lights stacked on top of each other. Reminds of a KTM Duke. The double sided (rgular) swing arm looks out of place. The chain adjusters are really sweet. No spring loaded kick stand!
Overall I have to thank Ducati for the changes. Over the past couple years I had started to develop a desire to buy a 998SP. Almost did last year at the bike show. But with the new 999 I can say those feelings have been eliminated. The 999 is a lot like the Harley VRod. It may very well be a better bike but it has lost the art and soul that has made the Ducati desirable.

I saw a 999 at Beaudry's Motorsports in Post Falls last week....it looks a LOT better in person then the shots of it taken in the magazines.
I liked it, some of it I didnt. Like that third dumb looking light on the wind screen that sits above the two headlights.
I think it will take some getting used to, but if someone gave me one, I wouldn't complain.
I'm happy with my 12.

Yeah I forgot to mention the third light. It looks like a flush mount turn signal that they decided to stick on the windscreen. Must be a law about the third light in Europe.

When I went to college (University of Florida) I had three roomates. A Jew, an Italian and an Asian guy. I swear to goodness getting their money for the rent and the other bills was a major event every month!
