calling all computer nerds, need to put XP on 2 computers
so i try to install xp on my second computer and it tells me that it is alredy activated on another one. how do i go about making computer #2 look like #1 so stupid xp will allow me to install it on both?
help
oh and i have a laptop with an ethernet card that has an adapter that the cat5 cable plugs into. well that adapter(i am clueless as to what its name is) is now officially broken. i have looked for a year to replace the fucker and cant find it sold seperately anywhere.
somebody know what it is called, where i can buy one, or want to sell me one?

oddly enough the little adapter is called a 'dongle'
what brand is the card?
as far as xp goes, im not sure how to allow activation on 2 computers with one license. since the activation looks to external server which has product serial and key logged, it WILL know it is activatredon different computer already
im sure they thought of this and protected against it, but you may try deactivating, then system restore to the previous day, who knows it might trick it....
;P
or get cutrate price for it online vendor by buying cheese piece of hardware
(or upgrade that harddrive while yer at it ;P)

i vaguely remember hearing that you can somehow set both computers to look the same, and then xp will only think that you are reinstalling on the same computer rather than a second computer.

I don't run the same (single license) sytems on two computers. But I have had to reload stuff on a computer that has crashed. I have called Microsofts help desk, told them what the story was and they gave a code and boom I was able to install the software.

I can crack it for you...then you can install it on as many computers as you want. The XP Service Pack will install fine as well. And you will NEVER have to call Bill Gates for an activation or product code.

Try an open source alternative to M$ such as Linux or a BSD variant. That will solve the XP issues forever...

fuck M$. just stick with an old version of windows u already have (i still run 98) or get redhat linux. i would recommend running dual boot ideally (both OS's), as sometimes u just need windows for software that doesn't come in a un*x variant.

what brand of ethernet card do you have that you need the dongle for?
i'd check their website, or call their tech support.
i know (yeh this is old school) back in the day national semiconductor (they made our lan ethernet pcmcia cards) would sell us 10 dongles for a decent price. then again when you have a bunch of retarded squids (navy guys squids, not street-going squids like greenglenn) using laptops as bowlingballs, stepstools, and gravity testing devices, you go through a lot of them (and power supply cords too)
i have seen xircom dongles somewhere too, so i know it isnt just the out-of-business company that sells them ;P

did you understand/follow the instructions that the crack itself displays as what to do, and using the numbers it has?
