Front Tire Mileage??

Just curious what kind of mileage everyone has been getting out of their front tire on their 12?

im creeping up on 4000 on my 010, and thats with a 120 mile track day on it, not to mentoion all of the long sweepers and twisties that the rocky mountains have to offer. still good, but im on borrowed time now. i have an 011 ready to go as soon as this one is dead.

ted, u sure u talking about a FRONT TIRE, and not a rear?

6 fronts and 13 rears in just over 20,000 miles.

Hmmmm....

I don't even want to think about how many tires my 12 has been through. Several, and my bike is just creeping up on the 10k mark. Rear tires are pretty much toasted at 1000-1250 miles, the fronts last a little longer, but not much.

Well Mr Richie-Rich Harry some folks seem to have lots of $$$ to blow on tires while some of us poorer folks need to stretch the life of tires beyond what is a recommended wear limit you see......

Actually my fronts go toast before my rears, they are so cupped that at 1000 they shake enough to blur your vision going into a corner at speed and they start to get a bit greasy at say 800. That is no shit. I have posted pictures of them before. Also I am probably not as tough on rear tires as most of you because of the lack of power at 4500+ feet.

6000+ out of the stock dunlop. With a lot of hi-way miles. 4000 with a pilot. We have a long ride to get to the curves.

I know the tire argument about which brand is best has raged on this forum...but I've been seeing the cupping a more extreme issue then overall wear from wearing down.

My 208's had 5500 miles on the front, I got rid of them due to cupping, not because of wear.

My 010 front has 6500+ miles on it, cupping is getting bad, no hardcore wear, still looks good, but dang will the cupping ever end. People see the tire and think I need a new front tire, but the tread is fine.

Is the front more important then the rear? In the rain? Turning? Twisties or straights?

You might be right Jason! I am kinda old.I live in N. Florida and there aren't too many curves.I have to go to Deals gap to get my curve fix! My front tire wears more from it smoking when landing from wheelies than it does from curves.

Between 1500 to 3000 miles depending on what I do. Two track days will usually kill a set.

The cupping stuff only happens to me when I run a underflated front tire. But that me.

That makes everyone on this board rich. Kind of a loose interpretation. Wouldn't you say?

tires

I got 6800 miles out of the stock d207's. Replaced them with Metzlers M1. Just turned 12500 miles and they look great still. I always replace both at the same time but I guess if I got as little milage from them as some of you guys I would change them 1 at a time too! I just don't see how a tire can last less then 2K miles? That's got to suck...

i average about 5000 miles out of a font, and 3 out of a rear. I have run Pirelli's and Dunlops, they are about the same, gonna try the M-1 out and see how it works. Both tires that I used before have been on the track and at deals several times, but I am not Nicky..... later all Jim
