World Finals! (an Old mans view)
First, the People! Saw Dave in Daytona and 2 great kids of his, TurboBlew and some of his friends, Dan Millholland (Old Kawaboy) his 2 sons and lucky to have wife! (How many wife not only let the Husband race but the sons also!) Mad Mike who was stating what happened before it happened and 99.9% Correct! There was also Harry ZX12 and a few members that stay quiet on the boards!
Pierre and his family plus the 18 member crew! There was one thing hard for me to understand and still do not know the details is that the Bike Bear Engineering had was owned by Pierre, but the Engine and pit crew was Marias and his son Neal was riding the bike! Coming from 6,000 feet altitude to sea level was harder that anyone expected! Mostly because of the different fuel pressure they use, no standard map worked! On "C16" Fuel (read no help from fuel) with about 10 degrees of retard at 100% throttle, they finally got 211 HP and 300 HP on Spray! They went out with the motor finally working and blew it up on the first pass with this setting! From what I saw, it was caused by several things! JE Cut the pistons off center by no more than 1/4 MM but had not releived them by the extra 1mm requested because of the larger valves! This plus maybe letting off a little during shifting (which caused the engine to go to +5 degrees) caused a serious explosion which forced the valve maybe a few tenths of a mm over and collided with the piston!
They worked to 4 am several nights! That night they got an entire bike from the owner of Highlands which they removed the head and replaced the cylinder! They still had a 1436 cc engine, but not the same! They then reset the maps for motor only and with about 225 hp ran 8.90! Then with about 250 Hp with a small amount of spray they ran 8.70 but had dialed 2.45 and lost the round! Bear Engineering did get an award for the Best engineered bike at the event!!
I watched Ryan Schnitz wait to leave (making sure no red light) and got beat with a slower time. I watched Larry Mcbride run a 6.05 and get beat in the second round of top fuel! I saw Rickey G win every round (I also saw his son who "he says" will not get a bike this year! He looked to be about 1 or less than 2 years old)!
I lost some weight and am in better condition than I thought after up and down the stairs in the stands for 4 days! I got to get ready for work but will go into a few more details later!

I have never seen Ryan "The Machine" Schnitz wait on the tree or ever make a mistake!! That's why I call him "The Machine"! There must have been some kind of astrological misalignment of the universe for that to occur!!

Pressure will get anyone! If he won that race, he would have had a "Perfect" season in that class! He had almost a .85 difference and you could "SEE" him leave after the other bike! What else can I say! I also saw a run where the bike lost what I thought was power, but the Handle Bar one himself said that he was losing traction and went to shift up but touched the button several times because of the shaking and shifted from 2nd to 5th! He is not a "Machine"!! (Two mistakes in 1 weekend is what I saw! He is very good, but still not God!)

One thing I do need to talk about is the 4 wheelers that all had 2 stroke 500 CC engines! The ran the 1/8 mile and a few were in the 7's but most were in the 6.s but "2" of them with large engines (900 CC and Nitrous) were in the 5's! one ran a 5.35 on 1 run! I could even hear my self saying "DAM" That was a serious run! The rest of the time hose 2 ran 5.6 to 5.8! These 2 carts did no shifting! I cannot describe how the others shifted but I will try!
Some of you have seen the Old western movies where the Gun Fighter Fans the Hammer on his six shooter!! You have also seen someone slapping someone's face! Well my thought is that someone thought it looked "Cool" so all of them (after launch), just Slapped the left lever silly the entire run! Some just slapped the lever (Kept their hand in front of the lever and tried to beat it to death) and some took full swings at the lever, sort of making round house (attually 1/2 round house) swings at the levers! Not one person in the stands thought this shifting was cool!
Not being raciest, (any more than I am) 90% had P.R. Flags flying in back of the bikes / Quads! Looking at them in the pits, no one knew what there performance was! I do not know if I have a "Still" shot of any of them, but I will look for them and post them if I did! BTW! Talking about Old people and Bad memory! When I got there, I went to take a Picture and had no card in the Camera! I had to go to WalMart and get a 32 MB Card! I have a 256 at home along with the "8" mb it came with!

Good to see you again Mr. Hill, and thanks for the comments on the kids, they are now official drag race fans.
It was good to see everyone else too, the Tennessee gang (sorry the shuttle got scrubbed), MM, Harry, Doug, Steve. Oh, one of TurboBlew's "friends" was Horsepower Mike, MAN it was good to see him.
Now Mr. Hill ,will you be able to tell the difference between Harry and I next time ?
Dave

Hey Dave, how is Mike doing. I haven't heard anything about him in a long time. Slug and I were wondering this just the other day.

Hey Vince I now know what I'm getting you for christmas
Some glasses and a hearing aid, cause you're seeing things and hearing things that weren't said
It was good to see everybody.I had a long conversation with HP Mike about turbos while he was sitting with us in the stands. He is VERY knowledgable on that subject. He's getting around great from what I observed. He's a strong individual both physically and spiritually and a very nice person in general.

Glenn,
Mike said he was doing good and adjusting to things. He hasn't been back on a bike but it still sounded like that was in the plans. It seems like he is buried in work and trying to crank things out as fast as he can. He is in great spirits and it was great to see him there.
