I agree also that alot of stuff should be on the "Bikeland" side but, like Beans said, "12R ZONE" is more often a higher traffic easier seen area to post cool stuff.

I think it is because we are lazy. it is just easier to post everything on the higher traffic (12R Zone) side of the site

Beans, you should be glad this forum's moderator hasn't "stepped in" and cleaned out the non-bike related and meaningless "whoring" posts or your number of posts would be dramatically lower, now wouldn't they? Be careful of what you say about the forum's moderator and what he should or shouldn't be doing. I hear he's got a fragile ego and a vindictive personality.
zxlnt, I think I understand where your coming from. I too, feel that even though just about every technical topic of the 12R has be covered at one time or another, the forum has seemed to have lost a little bit of it's focus and direction. There's no need to go into specifics or names, but I also think that it's not reason for too much concern... YET!
It's winter and the holidays. The riding season is over for many here. Many might have parked their bikes for a while, but they have not parked their friendships made here. It doesn't help that many of us are creatures of habit and only visit certain forums. I know that I only regularly visit 3 bike related forums on a daily basis and only one of them is at the site. You have been around these forums long enough to realize the cycles these forums go through over the year.
Though I personally might have stricter views concerning post whoring, way off topic (not even remotely related to the "12R Lifestyle") and other "questionable" posts, I've tried to stick to my "membership police their own" concept of moderating. It seem that over time, by having such a policy has in some aspects created a "spoiled child" attitude for some.
What I mean by that on the rare occasions when I do attempt some form of "regulating", besides "advertising" posts (which fish and freek usually address), it seems like many who posted on that thread scream "censorship" or that I'm some kind of dictatorial power freak that's just exerting my "control" for personal pleasure and entertainment. You'd really be surprise what some have said in their e-mails when I've done something to their post.
Other members have e-mailed me directly with their concerns, but they usually apply to a specific post or individual's conduct. When this happens, I try to address it in a fair and mature fashion. Even taking a "walking on glass - don't upset anyone" approach, draws little support and just as many complaints. I can easily assure everyone that I could just as easily become that dictatorial power freak by editing or deleting the posts that "violate" the forum moderator polices that I have posted and made clear on numerous occasions. That is until the outcry became so loud (and I assure you it would), that fish, freek and mad dog would pull the plug on me.
Alas, I have grown a tad weary of the apparent lack of support on any action or lack of, I have taken as this forum's moderator. Both by the general membership as well as those that administrate this sites forums. Sometimes it's as if nothing would be able to please the folks here. I guess that's what's happens when you get 2000 people together, huh?
It has made me actually wonder if it wouldn't be better if I just hand the moderator reins over to someone who could better address the desires of the forum's participants. All the same, I'd figure that they would not fair much better. The proverbial horse has long since left the barn and it would be extremely difficult to try and teach the old dogs here new tricks. So at least for now, I guess ya'll are still stuck with me.

From what I have seen redelk..... you have used your authority pretty damn wisely. You have made the occasional change, deletion, edit etc. and made yourself known when needed. I frankly can imagine a better job and still enable the freedom that most all of us have had on the board. So don't make us go down to Arkansas to find you! You stay right here because you are doing a stand up job.
