OT: Demolition Derby

Our local street racing board is chipping in to do this here in town...someones mom donated a 1964 Dodge Polara for use in the event. We pick it up this weekend to start our "modifications"
Anyone ever participate in this? It certainly sounds like a blast!!

My brother got an early seventies caddy limousine and we fixed her up for the local demo derby about 8 years back.
had a blast, the crowd loved seeing that thing get bashed into also! 
I will see if I can find some pictures.

Did one about 15+ yrs ago. Myself and 2 buds picked up a 12 pack and rode the back alleys until we found, if memory serves, a early 60's Lincoln Continental the owner would part with for a couple hundred. Radiator was relatively safe about 2 feet from the grill. Then we filled the doors with Quick-Crete. BUWAAHAAHAA!! Officials didn't like that much.

Fuckin' Derbys RULE!!!!!!!
I've seen several Derbys and it all depends on how serious the competitors are, and what the rules are concerning the car. The Derbys that have a bunch of guys in there with cars they pulled out of a salvage yard, and somehow got the motor running, or put some wheezy motor in, ain't too excitin' in my book. BUT, if you ever see a real Derby where the cars have HOT motors, freakin' mud grips, and all the body seams welded (except the hood of course), and maybe a few bars welded in here and there to beef things up a bit, IT ROCKS!!!! Oh yeah,....and the quickcrete is a good thing too if you can get away with it. Nothing like a "Good Ol' Boy" primed up on several Budweisers getting in one of those fuckin' cars and just mauling anyone he can get a hit on. Fucking classic, went and saw a good one back in the summer. It's amazing at the punishment a well prepared car will take, especially the engine.

Had to load it on the trailer backwards as the front two tires were flat. Actually had to use another truck to PUSH the car up onto the trailer....its quite heavy and doesnt like to move much with flat tires.

Eric is so good at tearing things apart...only took 2 hours to remove all the components off this door. (glass/hinges/levers/interior/etc)

Didnt happen...car wouldnt hold oil...cracked block...nothing we could do would seal it either
