yosh questions I just ordered a rs-3 duplex in stainless for my 00 12R
It came down to the akra and yosh after reading this board since i bought the bike new. I like the quietness of the stock pipe but not the looks. The questions I have are:
1 will i need to order gaskets from Kaw or will they come with the pipe
2 can i run it without the pc3r until without engine damage
3 should i dyno before and after
4 i will order the pc3r in about two weeks and are there any maps recommended for the yosh and k&n set up ( i tried easys site but all that info has disappeared)

map I have a map for you. Its for the yosh rs-3 duplex with the "race" can.
I'm running 103/101 cam timing with the ignition timing mechanical +4 across the board and 12.8 to 1 static compression. Its made with an o2 sensor on the road in real world conditions, like ram air etc.

You need to order the gaskets. They do not come with the pipes.

You should be able to reuse your gaskets as long as you dont have thousands of miles on them. We reuse them all the time. I would get a PC3 or Pc3r or yosh EMS.

With my Yosh, I reused my stock gaskets and do not have a PC ran 172.6 hp. Runs a bit rich but still strong.

Yosh..... I used my stock gaskets with no problems as well. I've got the SS Ti RS-3 Duplex and I run a PC3R, I wouldn't run the bike without the PC personally. It will more than likely be too rich, mine was what few times it was ran before I put the PC on, and I know for certain Otis' 12 is too rich. He fuckin' sooted my ass at a stoplight in Alcoa one morning on the way to Deals Gap. I still owe him for that. LOL
I think you made a good choice with the Yoshimura. It's a good looking pipe and it performs very well.

Ain't too rich with the BEAR stacks installed!! End of the pipe looks PERFECT (Soot? You won't find any in my Yosh!) and the bike runs STRRROOOONNNNGGGG!!!
I do have that flat spot down around 2,500-3,000 rpm, but it isn't of any concern --- I don't ride in the city or in traffic. Dynojet can keep their PCIIIr's.

i got the pipe today and it is very well made
i am going to order the pc111r .......maybe tonite. this means if everything goes well i will try it this weekend without the pc and once i get the map from y2k i should be set..............man i hope the pc is reliable as i ride alone a lot and far from home. i wanted to dyno stock vs pipe but this thing looks so good i am not gonna take it off anyway

I got the pipe and the filters in tonite and went for a ride. After the new pipe smoke and stench subsided i could tell it was deeper sounding than stock but crusing around to warm the bike up there is just enough sound and at steady speed its almost as quiet as a stocker. It was about 45 degrees out so it probally helped to lean it out some so it wasn't as rich as it would be in the summer so the 2500 spot was there but not bad. It didn' feel as strong just poking but under full throttle.........there is a big improvement as this bike wouldn't three foot power wheelie in second.If the "old K&Ns" are harder to install than these...............man!!!
I don't see how anyone can install a duplex without removing the radiator but the fit is perfect and doesn't come anywhere near the plastic except the rear turnsignal and there is very little "hunt",no popping on decel with the kleen air in place and the sound is nice but quiet. If this thing will run better with a pc I won't be able to ride it

Nice isnt it? No melting plastic. Not raspy kids noisey loud. Yet smooth and responsive down low.
Did you notice the venturi in the pipe just below the rh foot peg? The 2500 stumble is too much fuel. The map will dial that right out. The - numbers are substantial in that area. But the pc-III will make it even smoother.
My turn signals have the spacers removed and I use the zx-9r LP ti bracket. It pulls the pipe in a tad. About 1/2" from the turn signal WITH the spacer removed. You will need a 9/16" or so piece of 1/2" stainless tube for a spacer with this setup.
Yes i had the pipe on a month before the pc-III. It made 178 hp and 97 ft lbs torque. after the pc-III and much mapping its now 181 and 101.
But it picked up almost 8 hp in some areas with proper maping vs just the yosh pipe. In no areas is it less than what the bike made with the factory exhaust.
