Harlan Engineering - shift light
quote: new info
http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=1725119#post1725119
apparently he is on vacation. *shrug
Kinda annoying...but im pretty sure he isnt trying to screw anyone over....made too much of a name for himself with these things to stop now.
Based on the stuff I read on LS1 I removed my previous post.
I don't know who he is other than I found his website and heard a couple others on this site had his lights.
I find it hard to believe he has not been able to get his email or telephone messages in a month. Someone stated it took 4 months to get their light. I would consider that un-acceptable when your website lists all parts in stock and should ship within 4 business days. Especially if the reason for the delay is not communicated to you.

Yea...its pissin me off too at this point that everyone on that site is coming to his defense.....if they paid for something at summit or whatnot and didnt receive the product within a few weeks...they would be bitching and moaning too.
Guess you cant expect much from a site like that

It's easy to trust someone you know. Myself and a few others evidently are not aware of his reputation or the amount of people that have successfully done business with him. If you are going to collect funds from a service that forces customers to make a complaint within 30 days of payment, You should make every effort to at minimum to contact your customers within that 30 day period to assure them you are going to ship their product and when the product will ship.

I have used him before. He is in school and runs this business as a side
hussle. At least that is what he told me when i got in touch with him.
I got slow response also, but i didn't get shafted.
Hope that helps some.

I have one of Harlan's shiftlights.
Works great.
However if you are looking for a response or speedy service or in fact any response soon, forget it.
He will deliver but it takes a while.

I will probably go with a Dana light. Figures I try to save a couple bucks on the shift light and get nothing but trouble. It is my understanding if he does not respond to a PayPal complaint, they will recover any funds in the account and then shut it down. Kinda hard to run a e-commerce site when you have to ask people to mail you cashiers checks... I will call Doug Monday if I get a chance. I have had very good experiences purchasing from him.

I ordered up a Yosh EMS last week. I wanted the ability to swap between the regular map and the NOS map. Bought the EMS, the accessorey hub, the three way switch (3 different maps) ignition kill unit for no clutch shifts and a shift light. Not sure what unit they are using. But it is an option available with the Yosh EMS. Might be an option if everyone else is out.

This is so disappointing. I actually thought of getting one of his shift lights. What upsets me the most is that I recommended his light as an option to getting the Dyna. The Dyna is way too big for me. The compact nature of his light was what I believed to one of it's best selling points.
I can understand the LS1 moderator's frustrations, but I do feel that YCIS's point is more important and needs to be made... no matter how many times it has been made before. It's when no one talks about it is when all is forgotten. If his service had improved, you'd think everyone would want to know that, wouldn't ya? Will I feel that if it's the opposite, it still holds true.
Keep us posted.

He still has not replied to me. However, he did reply to PayPal yesterday with a tracking number. PayPal forwarded it to me. Pretty shitty customer service. He only responds to the complaint not to the customer.

I have a Harlan Shift Light. I received it within 2 weeks of ordering it. His customer service may not be all it should, but he will deliver. If you are pressed for time, you should probably look elsewhere. Since I absolutely needed to have a compact light, I decided to go for the Harlan and just wait.
