Tapered Roller bearings

Anybody make these for the 12? I did a thorough search online for these but could'nt come up with anything. I can't believe Kawasaki put in cheapo ball races instead of these on a $12000 sportbike. I've replaced ball races with the tapered bearings even on my RD350 and man the difference is tremendous.

I'd like to replace my stock ball races with the tapered bearings IF I can find them. Might also help solve my handlebar shake problem in the process.

A "Ball" has less friction than a roller! "Back in the DAY" of ball bearings and races, the metal was very soft and dented which caused a lot of problems! From what (Little) I know, the races are made out of "VERY" hard and plated steel and are "Supposed" to hold up as good as or better than Tapered!

The question begs to be asked, "Have you had any problem with yours yet"?? Notchy steering, because I have not and not heard of anyone having any problems with it!

actually, the bearing on the 12 are kinda odd. .sortof a cross between a taper and a ball.... I've had mine out ... can someone else try to describe them in better terms please? They didnt look that cheap to me.. .and changing them DIDNT solve the handlebar shake....

Change yer rubber... still running 207's? That'd be yer prob.

Fish - so you had the dreaded handle-bar shake and changing the steering bearings did'nt solve your problem?

I 'm pretty soon planning to tear into the front end with Wilson's help and inspect the bearings to see if *that* is the cause of head shake, and I'm debating whether it's worth the money to just change them and see if that solves the problem or leave the bearings as it is.

So I take it tapered bearings in the case of the 12R won't really make sense, as opposed to the value gained by replacing them on older bikes eh?

to be honest the "shake" seemed to be solved initially by the bearing, but then began to resurface... the biggest improvement came from ditching the 207's... I've been using 010's and I havent noticed the shake this season. I had a chance to look at my old bearings and they looked to be in perfect condition.

Are you still doing this with a different profile/Michelin tire on the front? This has been going on so long now that I have lost track!!

ZH: No! I've NEVER changed the profile. Always used 120/70.

I will be trying a BT010 in the front just to test it out this week. Maybe Pilots themselves don't work very well on my 12. The bearings was just a thought.
