YCIS, I think our fairings are made out of 2 plastics! ABS and I think the other is PBT The second plastic has a Higher melting point and looks a little different!

well..I guess my main question is would a heat gun applied to "shrinkwrap" attached to the fairing melt it?

I was fiddling around in the garage and found a roll of "monokote" which is basically a high strength shrinkwrap material made for covering model airplane frames.

I was thinking that using this stuff would work a helluva lot better on various parts of the bike instead of the tape we were using. Not to mention they sell the stuff in nearly any color including clear. I was going to give it a shot but it requires a heatgun range of 270 - 350 degrees to "shrink". Granted the gun wouldnt be on the fairing for more than a few seconds..but thats quite hot.

Perhaps ill try it in an inconspicuous area

Hell Ill shrinkwrap the whole damn bike if itll help me get faster at maxton

I used a really hot heat gun to peel the stickers off my fairing. No problem with melting. Of course I made sure not to leave the heat guy pointed in one spot for a long time.

I do know that a ti pipe touching the fairing will melt and do a nice flame test. I did my flame test on a Dyno.
