ecu not signaling fuel pump on 00' 12r
Is there a way to reset the ecu on my 00' 12r. It set up for 2 years and the fuel pump gelled and went by replace it still wouldn't start sprayed starter fluid in air box start right up and showed life til the air mix ran out. So my brother has a 01' 12r and swapped his ecu into my bike started and ran like the beast i remember. So is the ecu dead or can i reset it need a answer bad pls help. My bro wants his ecu back not good...............................

thats more of a ridgeracer kinda question.. who, sadly, is never on here.. or very very rarely.
i don't believe theres a way to "reset" the ECU.
about the only thing you can do if it IS the ecu is run a separate circuit or switched line to the pump. run it off the killswitch maybe.
bad shit tho. and unless you're good with wiring and use craftmanship-style wiring practices, you can cause ore problems than fix.
not sure what to tel lya.. if you're crafty, you ca just bypass everything ECU oriented, but like i said.. i'm not sure if thats a modulated output and if they control flow/pressure with output modification or if they just let the FPR do all the work..
if he FPR does al lthe work, the pump can run from crank to kill without any worries. if it's modulated somehow, that'll affect drivability

i know the 2000 has different plugs and cam sensor locations than a 2001 zx12. something does not seem rite.

What he said. You shouldn't physically be able to stick a 2001 ECU into a 2000 harness. What are the 21175-???? number on the two ECUs?
Also there is nothing to reset. The ECU does not monitor the fuel pressure or anything like that. The ECU turns on the fuel pump relay and then look to see that there is fuel pump voltage. It can detect if the fuel pump relay is malfunctioning but can't really diagnosis the pump itself.
If the bad ecu is not turning on the fuel pump relay it could be for two reasons; It doesn't want to or its broken.
When you first turn the key on the ECU will turn on the fuel pump for a couple seconds to prime the system. After that it doesn't turn back on until it detects the engine is spinning at a minimum rpm via crank pulse sensor. Also the anti-theft voltage has to be correct.
If all the above is good and it still doesn't come on then the transistor inside the ECU that grounds the fuel pump relay may have blown up when you were messing around replacing the pump. You accidentally wired it wrong or a loose wire shorted to something temporarily.
Do you have access to a Digital Volt Meter and know how to use it?
