I know that option isn't in 98, no need for it there. Were you able to resolve the names from a command prompt ? I guessing it would work but you should try it anyway.
Wish I had a little more time to look, I'm in another part of Canada at the moment chasing a different issue. I suspect the internal IP messaging between program modules is screwed up, IE and some FTP programs work differently than mozilla or kazaa so it's not unheard of for some of your stuff to be able to talk IP and some not.
Oh, programs that "sweep" registry entries scare me.

In Toronto, not quite your neighborhood. We have an office near you, I'll have to make it there some day.
Want the typical answer to that problem, reinstall the non working apps.

Figured that. As soon as I get a free brain cell I'll think about it some more. I'm watching servers sync right now so had a moment to pop on.
Damn it's cold here.... where's my ticket back to Florida ?

daveindatona, "Oh, programs that "sweep" registry entries scare me."
I have been using Easycleaner for almost two years now without any problems. I visually scan the "doomed" registry files before the final delete.
Easycleaner leaves LOTS of files alone in the registry that SHOULD be gone.
It has also saved a few of my friends who were having problems, from a re-format
what do you suggest for cleaning out all those registry files?
(I hope you don't say "norton" because that software caused me a total system failure two years ago.)
