00 zx12 stock clutch. Puleed clutch apart and the small fiber in the rear was broken. can i replace it with a normal size fiber and maybe add a 1.6steel to help. I have a drilled hub and will be modding the clutch puller? temp until I can replace the basket etc.

Yes. I reported on this the beginning of the summer.
Remove those 2 metal rings and the smaller OD inner fiber and replace with one standard fiber. I broke two of the inner fibers before and now I have no issues.

Why not just get the heavy duty springs from Shnitz racing for $29.95? I have been using all 6 for awhile now with no problems.

Do you have to buy two sets. Or are they sold individual. I looked the part up and it listed 4 with the bike.

Ok.. My Springs came in and i will install myself...

1} remove clutch cover
2} remove 6 spring bolts- springs should slide right out correct?????
3} slide new springs and bolts
4} service manual says- to apply silicone and a new cover gasket

is this all or are they any little tricks of the trade to make this process go smoother or easier......seems pretty easy?

Any comments...PLEASE!!

Change springs one at a time.
I have never needed any silicone on the cover, just use care when you take it off.

guess yer going to find out eh?

At worst case...go drive around for a bit (approach redline a few times) then go home and wipe the bottom of the clutch where the gasket is with a rag to examine for oil.

If there is some there (assuming you cleaned it off before you went on the ride) then remove cover...apply RTV...reattach cover. Or buy a new gasket.

If your clutch was slipping even with the stock springs above 7k rpm..then you have a few warped steel plates in there.

itll only get worse.
