LEDs
Anybody replace their tail lights with LEDs? I was wondering about any issues or problems that might be caused by the lower current and resistance of the LED vs the stock bulbs.

Unless you correct the impedance, the bulb will flash very fast.

I put a Dussault(?) undertail on mine that has integrated LED turnsignals. They sure do blink faster than they used to. One of my geek acquaintences told me to increase the impedence, add some resistors. Yea, like I would know how to do that.

U need to decrease the load the flasher "sees" The leds have a higher reistance than the incandecent bulbs do and dont load the flasher down. U can either get a heavy duty flasher like a Tridon HD12 I belive. Or, you can use low ohmage high power wire wound resistors in parallel with the leds to load the flasher. A couple 2-4 ohm 20 watt wire wounds wired "across" each blinker lead should put enough load to slow the flasher back down. The will get pretty hot after a while. I used some power resistors in a gold heatsink and attached them to the frame of the bike to soak up the heat.

I'll give the resistors a try.
Thanks

I have the Desault undertail and also have their clear rear lens with LED brake lights..
Here are a couple pictures with and without the brakes lit up..
The LEDs for the rear lens look better in my opinion with a clear lens versus the stock red lens.
As far as the fast blinkers I used the Tridon HD-12 and it fixed the problem.. The problem is the Tridon HD-12 is not sold in the US. This is made for export only. So you folks up in Canada should not have a problem getting this unit, but the rest of you will most likely not find it.
The issue is the HD-12 is a two lead relay and most relays that Tridon sells in the US are three lead units..
But all you need to do is go to almost any automotive store and tell them you want a two lead heavy duty flasher relay..
The stock flasher relay is in the battery compartment and this is where I put mine.. Just did a replacement and it works just great..
I have heard of some relays that can connect in the trunk area, but to me this was not a clean install, so I opted to install the relay where the original was located..
Hope this helps

I did the LED thing and they blinked really fast. Went back to stock.
