Undetectable radar detectors
For those of us in Canada where radar detectors are not appreciated by the smokies, has anyone put one out of site, inside the fairing, etc.
It would be nice to have one but buried so it can't be seen by enquiring eyes.

I had mine mounted in the nose of my '00. I think Red still has one there. It works well there, except for laser.
Anyone believe the scramblers work ? I was talking to a cop today that stopped by the house today and he said he's seen his radar jammed but he didn't know what caused it.

It just so happens that my boring job has allowed me to look into the stealth radar detector idea. I have a smoked plastic case at work that is about the right size. I salvaged an LCD screen from an old PLC controller and mounted it into the top of the case and will soon be stenciling on some kinda lettering to make the whole works look like a GPS unit. May use a commercial looking font on my label maker for lettering or get the rub-on letters from a stationary store. I'm not sure if the smoked plastic case will work for laser but you could always cut out a window in front of the unit and epoxy in a clear plastic piece. I realize not everyone has a spare LCD display laying around but I think a piece of glass painted with light gray paint on the back would look like an LCD display that's turned off. Radio Shack has project boxes that should work. Let your imagination go to work here. Maybe mount a few rubber covered buttons on it to make it even more convincing

Living in the Districe of Columbia and traveling to Virginia I have a Radar Detector! First, you need one with VG2 technology! So Radar detector detectors cannot find you! Mounting it inside the fairing loses "NONE" of it's effectiveness! It can see through fiberglass and plastic, just like it is not there! I mounted a 120 Db Piezo on it so I can hear it and there you are!

I have the Bel cordless (AA Batt. powered) & simply put it in my coat (pointed forward), or in da tankbag clean out of sight. Sure that kills the laser ability, but most of the CHiP's use Ka band around here anywayz. The problem is most of them wait until your on top of them then pull the trigger- too late! If your lucky you can come up on them while they are zapping cages...
I use one of them little stereo earphones routed up inside the jacket into the helmet in the ear pocket of the Arai. Works good excepting too many false alarms...
