Saturday the 12th a bunch of us are getting together to ride one last time with Travis. Travis ran from the county boys and got caught. He will get his license back when the state is damn good and ready, not before. Then there is the jail time and fines and motorcycle confiscation. Having a felony record is the icing on the cake. Moral of the story: make sure you can pay the price of getting caught if you decide to run.

...what 12R Pilot said...to those of you who DO NOT have a FELONY conviction...you don't want one....to those of you have (tho I doubt you'd admit it here) or 'who may know someone who has a FELONY conviction', perhaps a few words to the wise and the consequences of a FELONY conviction and how it has affected the convicted besides no legal possession of firearms, no voting, no security clearances, no competition for certain jobs that the person wanted...and for what?....for running from the cops after the person broke a speed law???...not to mention the high potential of getting seriously hurt or killed or getting innocents hurt or killed...
...and don't blame the cops for the chase and tell the cops to stop chasing the suspect...when a cop signals a person to stop, the person should stop when it is safe to do so PERIOD...ITS THE LAW...if the suspect runs, cops will always chase when appropriate and safe...and cops will terminate the chase more often than not nowadays...but we'll still look for you...
...if you don't like the laws, then do what you can do to get it legally changed...or move to a place where you can do whatever you please, whenever you want, if you can find such a place...
be smart, ride smart...

running....
I heard this one time on this site..."running from the law is a CALCULATED risk" and it's one of the best statements I've ever heard. There were times when I KNOW I wouldn't have been able to get away had I decided to kick it down and grab a handful. There was also a few times when I wish I would have cause it was a perfect opportunity and there was NO WAY in hell I would have got nabbed.
Some attorneys (as big of scum bags as they are) can be a HUGE asset in traffic court. I got an attorney to represent me when I got pulled for speeding and no license. For $75 per ticket he could've got me off on the no license and got the speeder reduced from 4 to 2 pts. In the end I couldn't get my test scheduled because I layed the fuckin' bike down, but the bottom line is they may be worth checking into... The court is MUCH more likely to listen to an attorney than some dude on a bike with more than one ticket for each year he's been alive (no offense).
If you TRULY can't come up with the dough to get yourself some scum bag attorney then beg and plead your case and tell the court you know you don't have the most exemplary (SP?) driving record but you were actually for ONCE doing the speed limit cause you couldn't afford to get nabbed again. Tell them you were riding with your buddy who sped up ahead. Then when the cop comes in to testify, ask him how many bikes he saw when he pulled you over. All sport bikes look the same to some of them fuckin' troopers.
good luck man, this sucks

...sorry, frEEK...I prolly egged him on with my 'eddyasswipe' comment...just fightin' words with words, safe and sound behind the annonymity of the internet...I was tryin' to prove a point...I say let him stay and let him say...if he/she (we don't know who this person is, afterall) continues this kind of dialog, then do what you have to do...
...hey eddyirish...I've found one real crimminal thinking mind here in you, that was easy...and everytime one of 'us' dies in the line of duty or off-duty, a piece of the enthusiam of why I chose this profession dies and I wonder if what I'm doing is worth it or matters...and good luck puttin' one between my eyes...I'm too busy fightin' crime to be still enough for a good head-shot by the likes of you...
...so what is it that you do as productive member of society, eddyirish?...straight up answer, man...man to man....
frEEK...may I suggest you move this thread to the bikeland forum so as not to cloud why and what we ride and why we participate at these sites to begin with...

Well, if I lose my liscence, then I'll just park the 12 in a storage unit for a year. There is absolutely NO WAY I'm selling my paid off 12, it's mine no matter what and I'll never get rid of it.
This is the third motorcycle I've ever owned, and I've promised myself if I get another one, it will be a second one cause I'm keeping this one (dare I say for life).

Damn, This thread got heated!
Cops are like everybody else some are cool, some are assholes. I have evaded the cops many times.I will pull over depending on conditions (where I am and how bad I was screwing up) I don't like to ride at night and would not run from the law at night. And if I don't know the area I'll be pulling over.

...some of us have disagreements...some of us even make 'idle threats' to each other, but its always in jest...but a few on the fringe actually wish and voice ill will upon other members they have never met based on their chosen profession...look, guys, all kidding aside, I will always come to the defense of my brothers and sisters in blue, and I will not condone unprofessional behavior behind the badge...but I have no problem dishing out some shit when warranted as a fellow sportbiker who happens to be a cop...
...I'm not enforcing any laws here on this board, that's not my job, that's not why I'm here...but I will opine on certain topics, especially if its something I feel qualified to comment on, especially if it involves the law enforcement field...
...eddyirish is not the first person on the internet to wish me ill will, and I'm almost sure he will not be the last...and for what, because I'm a cop???...of course, these types of people have a lot of courage behind the annonymity of the internet spewing shit...I doubt they'd talk that way to any of us in person...
...so, I just gotta take shit like that with a grain of salt the same way I do on the job (and consider the source), except I get to say shit back here (WOOHOO!!! )that I never get to do on the job and I get to tell it like it is straight up...
...true and decent members here ride with each other, have met each other, and treat each other with respect, whether they agree on something or not...the way it should be...the way it is most of the time...
...just remember this...if you make a threat to someone, in any media form, it IS against the law and could result in a felony conviction and sentence...wishing someone ill will IS NOT against the law...but it could get uncomfortable for you if you piss off the wrong person who takes the time and effort to find out who you are and where you live or frequent...these types of individuals live on the same fringe, I suppose...
...no worries, eddyirish, I'm not a felony law breaker looking for a fight, the only fringes I come close to are the stuff on some cruiser-type handlebar grips that are eye-level to me when I pull up at a stop light in my black and white Bahahahahah!!! ...
...you and your kind are not worth my time and effort to hunt down at this time (although I have the resources to do so when its warranted and its in the course of a legitimate investigation...say the wrong thing to me or anyone who wishes to pursue it, however, and you just might have other law enforcement personnel in your daily business)...you decide...

wormhole.... good words. Luckily Eddy is not representitive of our population. And hopefully (wishful thinking) we have seen the last of the hate spewing.
Now on a more serious note.... someday you will have to post a picture of the cockpit of a police cruiser with detailed instructions of all the damn buttons!!!

...oops, didn't realize eddy couldn't log on anymore...my last post was for him, more than anyone else..anyways.......
...hey Zhooligan...yes there are many, many buttons in a modern cruiser...its so far removed from from the technology of when the siren's wail was sync'd with the engine's rpm in the old days (like in the old Broderick Crawford 'Highway Patrol' TV shows)...I couldn't even begin 'splain to you how everything works in a modern cruiser, but I do know what they do...we just about have everything except a coffee maker and mini-donut dispenser in there...
...we can 'run' just about anyone and anything from the cruisers...my unit has lojack, gps, and internet capabilities...it's getting to be more and more of a paperless task...some have in-car video cams, radar..some wear mini-video cams...most all wear a mini-tape recorder or digi-recorder...I was once told the more antennas you have on your car, the more important you look...I have eight, so far, but I don't feel anymore important than the rest...looks kinda' cool, though
...fer' instance, the technology's there to swipe a driver's license and have a machine print the citation in the name of uniformity and effeciency, or to electronically incapacitate a person or a vehicle to effect an arrest or stop a fleeing vehicle...
...LOTS OF cops walk around with drool and a hard-on whenever they visit the annual safety equipment expos ...technically speaking, its a good time to be a cop ...sociologically speaking, it's one of the most difficult times to be a cop ...and the bad guys always seem to have more firepower than the regular beat cop...but most of us press on regardless...
...me?...I'd like to have a ride-height adjustable, grippy-tired, bullet-proof, supercharged, and nitrous'd blacked out Hummer H2, please...uh, more surface area for more antennas...and room for a built-in coffee maker...Bahahahahaha!!!!

Iv'e gottin off with out a getting a ticket a few times Just because I, A. Pulled over in a safe place. B. Was courteous and respectfull of another human being. C. Explaned the situation ie. " Some car just cut me off, so I booked it ahead of the trafic". And even when I have no excuse they usualy give me a lighter ticket just because I think a cop can tell if your a shit head squid or not.
To anyone disin cops: Try to think about all the shit they have to put up with when their not writing tickets. Like trying to determine who's body parts are who's at an accident.

I got a ticket 2 weeks ago for a tag violation. I've had my tag mounted there for 2 years (2 different bikes, same location) and have been pulled for other things but the tag was never mentioned as a problem. (TurboBlew TN doesn't count) I guess this one guy just wanted to screw with me. His complaint was it wasn't visible. He said this as he stood behind my bike reading the invisible tag's numbers into his shoulder mounted mic.
I have a great respect for police, but like any large group of people there are some better than others. I sometimes ride with cops, and have speeded beyond reasonable limits with cops, because like any large group of people some like to have fun more than others.
As far as the toys, I love toys. A safety equipment expo has to be the Comdex of copland. Cop toys are some of the coolest, but I guess that's because I don't ride around with them all of the time. Some of the computer stuff I play with is wicked cool, but after a while a computer is a computer and it takes something really different to get my attention. I'm guessing after you ride around with the latest cool toy the thrill wears off.
Now a blacked out supercharged H2 .... that would be a thrill that may last a little longer than using Captain Kirk's phaser. Be careful out there .
