240 zx12
Any one out there wit a 240 tire on their 12? what do u think n did u run into any problems wit urs? I m thinkin of changin up n goin bigger, like a 300. Some will say why put a wide tire on a bike, n i would b the first to say THE LOOKS! I still ride mine the same wit a 240 so if ur goin to say rideablilty sucks, i would say mayb u suck, lol. Sike! I am not a curb runner anyway just havin fun wit u guys that really hit the twisties. Super street bike magazine shows that 240 riders on the twisties numbers werent to far off the regualar guys! now the 300 will b something to c, lol

The only problem I see is the tire getting close to the chain....I have a 200 on now and there is only about 1/2" of clearance left.....So unless ya wanna space the wheel over and offset the front sprocket, 220 is about it, if there is a 220 size....I don`t know how big a tire you can get on a 6" rim...safely????

i'm sure someone like myrtle west, roaring toyz or greggs customs will ahve a swingarm with a jackshaft setup to accomodate a 300.
a 240 tire still handles surprisingly well as you saw..
as well, i've ridden big-tired bike myself and found only a slight difference.
lowering take a little away as ya know.. lol
post some pics tho when you get it goin man.. should be sick when it's done.
i'm sick as hell of seeing busas all done up.

One of my friends just got his ZX12 done with a 330 rear tire....he had a custom tubular swingarm made for the application...it took about 3 months to make and cost him about $5,000.....but that includes the price of the tire, rim, sprocket, chains, powder coating, custom rear brake setup and installation, etc...It can be done, but I think the biggest bolt on kit for the 12 is a 240, I don't know of anything bigger that's prefab to bolt right up...

Thanks kiwi, only now wit the little one i might not have much time to ride it, lol. The only bad thing i can say is that the tolerance between the frame n the chain up front is too close. If the chain gets loose an occasional rubbing goes on but not enough to show wear on the chain, some people grind out the frame in the spot the chain travels however, i ride mine at a few different heights wit the air ride n didnt want to grind that much out. Other than that i love it n it handles just the same. Ever since pirelli came out wit the diablo for the 240 i dont spin out everytime i hit it hard, the metzler was a touring tire made for miles n it spun very easily. Thanks for checkin my page out too, CHEERS back to u mate!
