Synching of TPS sensor

Ok hello again peoples !!!!!!
Did some reading on this wonderful site and saw acouple of people posting questions regarding there is a process of syching your tps sensor when you unplug it...

I just finished a fresh overhaul on my 2000 ZX-12 and I'm new on this site , can anyone tell me if this is true ?

I do have another F.I bike and yes the manufacture does state that if you unhook the battery from the ecm, the t.p.i sensor will have to be recalibrated before use.

And to do this they say turn the key on and open the throttle to full and then back to idle, you are to repeat this 2 times then turn the key off....

Ant help would be appreciated,
Cheers From Canada !!!!!

hmm.. sorry.. not sure on the 12, but normally you do have to initialize the tsp.

now, on the stuff i've done it on, you have to rig up a little tps plug with a 5V signal fed to the appropriate wire.. meter the output and withthe throttle blades al lthe way closed, rotate the tps til you get .XXX mV (specified by manufacturer) on your meter.. lock it down and turn the idle up!!

now, on "smarter" systems like on your bike, if it's saying to roll on/roll off from 0-100% twice, it's simply looking at the results and memorizing it.. doing it twice will prove the first number either was or wasn't accurate.

if the numbers repeat back to the ECU, it locks that value as the new TPS feedback signal.. if the vales differ, it'll retain the old numbers.

i'm temped to check my manual for your bike, but am afraid the computer will tell me to screw myself, lock up, shut down, and fuck my CD up with all my manuals on it...

lol

good luck!!

if i get brave and look up the initialization procedured, i'll post to confirm or change my info..
