High-mounted exhaust systems

I saw this high-mounted exhaust system for the 12, what does everyone think? Do you think it's worth it?

It looks pretty cool. But I can tell you that I have really railed the 12 around the track and dragging the Muzzy exhaust is not an issue. I have rubbed the hell out of the lower fairing but not the exhaust. You want to look for power and ridability. I have to say I really like my new TiForce pipe. It makes the same power as the Muzzy except for a signiture dip at about 6500. Top end power is the same and the bike idles without the idle hunt. The Muzzy is a damn good pipe to as well as I am sure many others will say of the Akcro, Hindle etc.

I think I only like it just because of the looks, it's different then what most people do with their exhaust setup. I think performance and proven reliability would come with going the conventional route, a la Muzzys.

My actual dream if you will would be to have a really good / badass underseat exhaust with a single sided swing arm. Now that gets my juices flowing. No one makes the underseat system for the 12 and I guess Harris or someone made a single sided swing arm for the 12 for a very short time. They won't do it now for some reason. DAMN!!!

Hey Z...you seem pretty creative with everything you've done to your 12, both you and swft. So I ask...how hard is it for someone (like you) to bend the pipes and build something that could mount underneath the tail. I figure the actual exhaust is the same and remains the same shape, it would be just the piping from the headers and I'm assuming some brackets for mounting.

Is this harder then it sounds? Have you thought about making one or is that out of the question?

I guy that I ride with has a High mount MIG from EuroBikes. I sounds really nice. He didn't add a Power Commander until later but the bike idled fine. Just like stock actually. One thing I noticed is that you will definitely need to do something about the rear fender after its installed. A turn signal integrator is a must as you have to lose the turn signal on that side.

I think it would look a lot better if there were a way to route the pipe differently. It looks like a stantion pipe coming up the side of the bike, due to the long run of straight pipe coming up from under the swingarm. When I first saw this pipe last year, that's what turned me off. Without a really different swingarm, I can't see any other way of doing it tho. Same for an undertail system, you'd still have to come from under the swingarm.

That's a silly video, but for some reason I still like it.

I have to agree with swft...I think the pipe should somehow come from under the swingarm.

I like the Devilbikes's exhaust setup better then Eurobikes, the two exhaust setup looks trick.

I think it looks like shit. Where's the right turn signal? Look at where the passenger has to put their right foot. Looks stupid. Just my opinion.

I aggree with hawkman on the looks and funcionality of the Devil.

Is the right turn signal molded somehow into the fender itself...how is that done? Do you see it...that lil orange bleep in the paint.

I'm new to the board. I just brought a left over 2001 12. great price. just one question I was looking for a slip on then i came across dennis kirk web site and they had a close out for RS 3 Oval Duplex Race Only Exhaust System. I brought it and i am awaiting for it to arrive. The one problem i have is they told me I lose my rear footpegs. Any way around this? Do they have kits or anything like that so I can keep my footpegs? Any help will be much appreciated

Beans,

Those are flush mounts cut in to the tail section.

Anyone use or have an opinion on the ART exhausts I see advertised in magazines? Cool looking colors they come in.
