I thought I just needed to put the [url] on your link, but that didn't work. I can't find the article it's connected to, either.

watching my brother get hit head on by a car whiloe wearing my AGV pants and AGV boots, and realizing that the equipment he was wearing is the ONLY reason that my 22 year old brother still has his left leg is all the reason, i will ever need...ya'll know exactally what I am saying....later ya'll, and lets hope that all the money that we spend on saftey equipment, is for naught and that we never have to use it....

ask greenglenn about what i did to the road in my gear.

the red streaks
the white streaks
the black streaks

end result? one shattered bone in foot from footpeg folding.
bruised muscles in side/back
no bloodloss
small raspberry on knee where leather was a tad loose.
bruised ego.
destroyed bike.

i cannot imagine hitting the pavement at 70mph sliding that far without my trusty cowskin.

all praise the cow! MOOOO

WTF? In your dreams, MM! I've heard the seatbelt argument (thrown and survive vs. secure and burn up in the car... et.al.). I can't wait to hear how someone got fucked up BECAUSE they were wearing full leathers, boots, gloves and a helmet. Getting run over by a minivan doesn't count.

LOL... yea right RED. Well except for this case or that case bla. bla. bla.... I have actually seen a picture of a helmet stuck between a pair of semi wheels! needless to say his gear did not help shit! Im not saying gear dosent help in MOST cases, shit a helmet saved my life once! but when your ticket to ride is over your freaking Done! it dosent matter if your in Armor! I for one am not going to suit up like im going Racing when I go to the local bike night or driving to work. If I am going "riding" Im putting on some gear. I have never voted for a helmet law Nor will I EVER! and that is all I am going to say on this thread!

When I "risk it" and ride with less than full leathers, I pray that it will end quick. It's living through it that scares me. I know I should always wear everything, but for cruising through town, I rarely do. In a way, that's very self centered. It doesn't show much concern for your loved ones that will be left behind. But like in many of life's circumstances, I roll the dice all the time. So far, so good.

I've been down twice already and I figure the third time will be the worst so I "dress for the occasion." You can call me Spiderman all you want, but I'm wearing my gear!!

hey slug isnt going down the road much more fun than crossing it? I have leathers for when i am gonna get out and ride a long way or or ride hard. for the night I am toodling around with the old lady, or just cruising with the fellas, I wear my ballistic pants and coat with my riding boots, and Gloves. Having been run over by a truck in 94 on a kan-a-tuna, wearing jogging pants and tennis shoes. I realizr now that if I had been wearing good boots, i would not have the troubles with my ankle that i now have. And after holding my brothers leg in place while we went from up near the Dragon, to Andrews local hospital. I realize that no matter how you ride how fast slow, hard, middle of the pack, or front, if its your turn to go down, its your tune. I just want to do everything in my power to walk away from it when it does happen, and we all know that it WILL happen. Sooner or Later.......

This Honesty Happened.
'96 Prostar race in Atlanta
I had an encounter with the pavement @ no less than 133MPh.
My trusty '90 Zx11 was headed down the Atlanta Dragstrip on my way to another win...when I hit a bit of oil on the big end. The bike & I parted ways through the traps & the ticket was 133Mph & some change.
Lets just say I was very very glad to be wearing a full set of custom Z's
Alpinestar boots w/ankle armor & double leather reinforced gloves.
I felt like a rag doll that had been thrown into a washing machine on high speed spin!!

Skinned my knuckles up, & hurt my pride. (the bike needed more repair)
The sliding never seemed to stop, after slowing down to around 30mph I thought I could get back up....WRONG....the sliding continued.

& from time to time, I still wear those leathers. (as a reminder)

Stay safe & out of harms way.

still have the helmet that I was wearing when I got hit by the truck in 94. Guess I wont ever get rid of it. Lots of memories in that helemt, most of them bad....but it tends to keep me thining straight when I am in Daytona and dont have to wear them, I look at that , and put on the shiny new Arai that I bought.
