weight loss program for the 12 OK guys I am working on a serious weight loss program for the 12 (me too!!) Anyways, I am in the process of making rearsets, bar ends, exhaust hanger... Gonna buy wheels this winter. Any ideas would be great!!! I don't want to sacrifice safety or strength, just look cooler and lose weight in the process. Where should I start?

64 lbs and counting. Exhaust, Wheels and fuel tank give the biggest chunks. After that it gets harder. I have over $2500 in Ti fasteners in my bike alone. The Gilles rear sets weigh about 1.25 lbs less then the stockers., remove one of the two horns also is a freebie. Alum Wheel spacers are a bargin also.

Isnt the full stock pipe and headers about 27 pounds or so...that's what I've been told as how much you can save just by replacing it all with a 4 to 2 Ti Header system.

Hey ZHooligan, have Hans fab a countershaft sprocket cover out of carbon fiber. And as long as he is at it, the rear brake caliper mounting bracket could be carbon also. Another place you can loose some more weight may be to replace the oem bars with some chrome moly tubing. ____________

WRT Ti exhaust - You save about 18 lbs by replacing stock with Ti. Zhooligan has a CF fuel tank, it's lighter by 4lbs, and holds 1 more gallon of gas. His countershaft sprocket is hogged out, so that basically, you can see the whole countershaft (looks neat).

That is the countershaft sprocket cover.
The bike has Ti-exhaust, Magnesium Wheels, Carbon fiber tank, carbon fiber hugger and chain guard, carbon snorkel, carbon front fender, 520 chain and sprocket conversion, Ti exhaust hangor, rear passenger pegs removed, the rear seat has been remodeled shall we say so that it and the cowl appear to all be there, a FSD reat tail in stalled, the bar ends replaced with intuitive plastic slider ends, fasteners and bolts galore converted to Ti, one horn removed the list goes on.

I maxed out (finacially) at 30 lbs. I can't afford the wheels of the fasteners. It'd be cheaper for me to lose the other 30 lbs. Just not as easy.

The bag of fasteners I changed to Ti weighs just over 8 pounds. The claim is 50% weight savings. My Ti bolts are drilled for safety wire, the centers drilled out of many etc. The weight savings is around 4 lbs. An Expensive 3 pounds but still four pounds. This was simple to come up with as I have all of the fasteners in a bag.
From this point on thngs get more and more expensive per gram.

What about the axels in TI? And the rear spocket bolts in colored alumunm and maybe proteck levers

i envy all u TFA members. u can just lose some weight off yerselfs & save tons o money. short of loadin up on dioretics [sp] and giving Flokhart (ally mcbeal) a run fer the money, that aint an option fer me. so i HAVE to spedn the $$ on the bike if i wanna lose weight.

I am trying to find someone that can and will make the axles, and the swing arm pivot bolt. YoYo dyne talks about the Ti rear disc, but not avail for the 12 yet. Always on the hunt. And yes I personally am storing horsepower. I could easily drop 50 pounds myself. But I think of it as my savings account!!
The carbon tank feels like it weighs nothing. It is a shame to install the damn gas cap set up as it weighs more then the tank!! And then the pump and level sensors weigh a helluva lot more then the tank!
vozizm I hear you. In my case I don't have any other real vices (ok, about 18 cans of diet pepsi a day could be considered a vice) and my 12 is hobby.
