ZX12 (2000 ) tires question
Hello all,
A quick question about tires how the BATTLAX BT016 are with the 12 this days ? i need to go 120 and 190 rear.
I've heard the BT002 are good as well but i'm worry about their longetivity .
If you have any recommendations please lets me know,

I've recently used 3 sets of Pirelli Diablos (in 200 though) and like the handling and they also last quite well. Work in wet too.

The smaller rear tire helps the bike turn in corners better...........
The 200 is basically there only to keep the rear end from busting loose under hard throttle........, good guys with good right hands can be quicker in the turns on a 12 with a 190 rear..........,

Yes i'm running 180 but going 190 , 200 feel like a weight been added on the rear.

190/55 would be the best tire to use but the supply is somehow limited and prices are up. Michelin makes the Pilot Power in that size and as new bikes are using it more and more maybe the tiremakers start to meke them more at affordable prices... And in fact the 200/50 Michelin Pilot Power HPX was in fact pretty close to being 190/55 and not 200/50 what it said on the tyre! Michelin prices have just gone very high here in Europe and so I've been using Pirellis for couple of years now. Have also tried Bridgestones, Mezelers and even Avons (stay a way from them!!!), but find the Pirellis best tire for turns and longevity (+ price)!

a 180 will perform better in the twisties
a 190 maybe better staright line...... really depends on the set up
if he is NOT running a wider rim ...... probably NOT
for the conversation a lot of things seem reasonable & possible
YET
the 190 hadnt even been designed in 2000
so any gain may purely be in his head
on a bike & rim designed for a 190 yes there have been gain
on those not designed for the 190............few have quantified any progress
if he is a straightliner & he's into " mine is bigger than yours..................."
so be it

I remember from a former life......., the "turn" was where the road bends........, its what you use the round steering wheel on the tow rig for..........
Also, there is a "turn off" at the end of the drag strip......., very similar.........
More research to follow..........

got a 200 qualifier on mine. much better than the 208. do we have a 6" rim? if so that is what the first 190 bikes came with i think. was it a gsxr750 with the new 190?

Yes we have 6" rim on back. 180/55 would be good but it's designed for 5,5" rim. Thats why I would like to have 190/55..

To add to the confusion there are some 190s for track use specifically DESIGNED for a 5.5" wheel!
Keep in mind Brand X that comes in a 190/50 may not be as different as you think compared to brand Y that comes in a 190/55. 190/50s can vary from brand to brand. If you prefer cornering you will probably like the 190/55 although coming from a 200/50 just about everything will feel better. You may want to try the 190/50 as it should be less drastic of a change.
I went from a 200 to a 180...night and day.

Yes there are huge differences between different brands on the actual measurements and what they say! And remember that there is also a huge difference between new and worn out tires. It's reaylly hard to say if one brand is better than other unless You have ridden both of them back to back when they were new. For the corners sake I've also added the shim (4mm) under my rear shock so it corners better and I really recommend it if You like corners!
