How low is too low?
I had an 05 12R that I had the muzzy links on it. I had it set at the lowest setting in the rear and I had the front down to where the bottom of the lower clamps were just above where it starts to taper.. This worked fine except the front was a bit higher than the back unless I strapped it..
I now have an 03 12R with the same setup but I lowered the front a little more to where the bottom bolts/half of the lower clamp are right after the taper and the top bolts of the lower clamp are before the taper.. Basically I was wondering if thats enough clamping force just having the 2 top bolts of the lower clamps and the upper triple tree clamps holding it.. Its alot closer to level this way, I just want to know if its safe.. This is basically a track/drag bike only, but I do have to drive it about 5 miles to the track from the shop.

I don't think that is a good idea. I would slide the forks 1" up in the triples, and then pull it down with a strap. You can get right down to the ram air scoop with the strap; that's how I ran mine.

What your talking about is good if you cut your forks down, put the blocks in the fork tubes and take the front fender off !!!

Don't do it. My 00 was lowered a little more than 1 inch....got home after running over 200 at Maxton...1 fork was 3 inches through, the other about 4. Do it right ;-)
Middle hole in the lowering link still has the bottom sometimes scraping the ramp, and I have a low with a ramp that lets lowered bikes up w/less scrape than most ramps I"ve seen.

i did some mesuring and if you slide them up the 2" to match the rear i am going to get .020 brass shim stock and cut it a tad short from overlaping and it will make up the difference of the taper and the softer brass will grip those machineing lines . it will hold but i am thinking the front fender will need to go bybye.

I was thinking of making the blocks like the ones schnitz sells, does anyone know the diameter of the pipe?? and the length??
