New Catalyst Fiberglass ZX12 Tank and Tail
I have been keeping this one under wraps for a while, had to keep it hush hush. Bonnie is in the process of updating the photos, I do not have them yet. She informed me yesterday the design is done. VERY similar to what was done with the zx14, and should be comparible in cost she said.
I have not gotten the weight difference on the stock vs. the Catalyst Tank.
This is a good thing for 12 owners, and especially, Drag Racers, and Land Speed Racers.
You may drool now.

Does anyone know what an empty zx12 Stock tank weighs?
I am curious to what the weight savings will be. They must be at least 10 lbs, maybe 15?
Karl, do you or VH have a figure on that for us?

"A" Model fuel tank, bare: 12.5 lbs.
Weighed with a digital bathroom scale, repeatable. Should be fairly close.

My 1/2 tank is a LOT less and a guy in Hawaii made a few 1/2 tanks like mine that held 3 gallons. I think my tank empty is about 5 pounds! Plus the full tank is not necessary and gets in the way of my Dinner!

Not sure if you guys know about this, but a company in CA, called ETI fuel cell has been making tanks for most of the sportbikes, including the 12, for several years.
I just put one on my 00 12, fits better and higher capacity than stock and weighs about 1/3 of the stocker. Super quality too.

That has been part of the hold up.
This tank WILL use the stock pump, etc. Took them a while to get it all lined out.
Bonnie has been VERY busy, but they will be ready for special order. They will not stock them, but will make them anytime anyone wants one.
For my application, I am not sure if I will use one or not......., BUT, I want one bad.

Gotta remember, its a 12, you cant lay it down like that, without cutting the frame...........
Look at how far forward they moved the rider.
You do have to drain rowdy race fuels from the tank after the race........, only drawback I see.
