Ram air
on the ram air on the zx12r's what is the point of the two what look to be "baffles" on either side of the intake???

the 'reservoir' looking things?
im probably wrong, but i suspect it may be to trap excess water that could enter the ram intake. i know that when i get caught in the rain or im careless when washing her, there is significant water in these 'reservoirs'.
perhaps it is to help stabilize air pressure in the tubes? good question.

something to do with harmonics or pulses of the intake charge i think.

They act as dampers to smooth the flow (pressure pulses) in the airbox when the throttles are opened and closed.

Nope. Other than they are place to lose airbox pressure. Take em off and seal the holes

Seal the holes (drainage) in the dampers?
or remove the dampers completely & seal the holes in the intake?

just curious why take them off...if no gains to be had by chopping them off for top speed racing.and they are there to lose the airbox pressure?other gains ?

Doug, have you actually datalogged airbox pressure with and without the secondary resonators?

There are small drainage holes in the resonators at the bottom, which Doug might of meant could/will lose pressure
or did he mean take the whole resonator off and seal the hole left in the ram air pipe?

No, I never ran with them in place. Removed and sealed the offending holes right from the get go. All they can do is leak, so why heve 'em if you want max pressure.
