Brakes
Hey all,
I am new to the world of the ZX12R...Just traded my Aprilia RSV1000 last Friday for a 2002 Zx12r in green...Great machine.
The only thing that bothers me is the front brakes. The pads seem to have some life left in them, but when I pull the lever they just seem spungy. I have to pull the lever right in.
Is this just a Zx12r issue? Or should I replace the pads anyway?
Any advice would be great!

Welcome to the board Smcg. If the pads look OK, try some braided lines, gives the front brakes a better feel..

theres also 5 settings on the lever to adjust stiffness, and you may want to bleed the brakes

Do you have braided brake lines? They made a big difference on my 12.

Needs a brake fluid change...Even with steel braided lines, best to bleed the brakes every year!!!

1)brake fluid,pads and lines change them togather..(should be much better) if not then...
2)brembo master pump
3)braking or galfer disc
4)if doesnt improve get 04-06 fork from ebay and zx14 nissin brakes caliper
5)if still not good change the nissin caliper to brembo..
6) change bike
7)repeat from stage 1..

New fluid (definitely), a good bleed and braided lines should should make it satisfactory, but they'll never feel "European". You'll have to buy Brembos for that.
The adjustable lever changes the handle position to adjust to your grip/finger length. Nothing to do with lever pressure or "stiffness".
