12R Corbin Seat owners...
1) What kind of seat-to-bike fitment problems, if any, did you have with your seat?
2) Did the seat cause the breakage of the two plastic locating pins on each side at the front portion of the tail section?
3) Did the Corbin seat base cause scratch marks on the exposed part of your gas tank under the seat?
4) Is the seat material near the edges of the seat base where it tucks under starting to open up like a small wound?
I need to know this and any feedback would be much appreciated ...the direction of any future projects depend on this info...also, I already know how comfortable they are and what it does to one's disposition on a long-ass ride...it works!

1)Three different Corbin seats fit like crap where the faux tank indentions and the seat met.
2)Not yet.
3)Yes. The tabs on the underside of the seat that have the little leather protectors have very sharp metal corners that dig into the tank.
4)Haven't noticed that yet, but you have me worried now.
My Corbin seat is comfortable and the carbon fiber patterned leather looks neat, however everything else about the purchase has been less than satisfactory.

1) What kind of seat-to-bike fitment problems, if any, did you have with your seat?
None. The initial bolt in is tight, after that no problem.
2) Did the seat cause the breakage of the two plastic locating pins on each side at the front portion of the tail section?
No
3) Did the Corbin seat base cause scratch marks on the exposed part of your gas tank under the seat?
No
4) Is the seat material near the edges of the seat base where it tucks under starting to open up like a small wound?
No
This is the second 12 my seat has been on, total of about 18,000 miles. Very happy with it.

1) What kind of seat-to-bike fitment problems, if any, did you have with your seat?
I had and still have all kinds of "fitment problems". When I first got it, there was a 1/2"+ gap between the rear seat and the Corbin... ON ONE SIDE! There were also 1/2" to 3/4" gaps on the back sides and between the front part and the tank. I sent it back after e-mailing numerous pictures illustrating the various problems. After I sent it back, they "lost" my seat TWICE and kept it for almost TWO MONTHS! I still have their e-mails stating such (with all their "amended" delivery dates).
2) Did the seat cause the breakage of the two plastic locating pins on each side at the front portion of the tail section?
One.
After I got it back, it appears that all they did was add more foam in the upper tail section of the seat. It doesn't have a gap, but the "imbalance" between the top right and top left sides is still their. Not only did it result in partially breaking one of the tabs, but it makes it difficult to secure the rear seat. I have been pulled over countless times by riding buddies to inform me that my rear seat was about to come off. This is even after repeated checking to insure that the rear seat was actually latched. I'm VERY ANAL about checking this and if the day comes that the rear seat does fly off... well, I best not make "threats" on the internet.
3) Did the Corbin seat base cause scratch marks on the exposed part of your gas tank under the seat?
Minor.
4) Is the seat material near the edges of the seat base where it tucks under starting to open up like a small wound?
Those areas seem to be okay at this time. Since you mentioned it, I'm might need to inspect that area a little closer. I've been so disappointed with the fit in other areas, especially after sending it back for TWO MONTHS, that I haven't really looked there.
I posted this on a previous "Corbin" thread (with a few additional comments)...
I have about 29,000 miles on my Corbin and it has the "standard" foam. Here's my personal opinions on it...
1. It spreads my thighs out further then I'd like. Having a 32" inseam doesn't help.
2. Being 5'9", I kinda like the higher front. It makes it a little easier to get up on the tank. I guess you could call it a "booster chair".
3. The standard foam is pretty hard and it does take longer then a 1,000 miles to get it "broken in".
4. The overall appearance is great (with the exceptions of the front and rear gaps). Mine is the "faux CF" with no colored piping.
5. The fit on the bike SUCKS! I sent it back and it still has gaps. Also, the metal tabs on the back of the seat have been loose ever since I got it back from Corbin.
6. The customer service SUCKS EVEN MORE! When I did send it back, they "lost" my seat TWICE and kept it for almost TWO MONTHS!
I will say this...
Just prior to DG3, it thought I'd give my OEM another try. I figured that with the OEM no spreading my thighs so much, I'd be able to shift my weight better in the twisties. For the first 100 miles of the ride, the OEM seat just felt weird. It felt almost flat and had little to no support in the back or sides of the seat.
After 150 miles, I started regretting the change and my legs started cramping. After 180 miles, while getting off my bike, I got a "charlie horse" cramp that was so bad, I almost fell to the ground. I could barely walk for close to 30 minutes. By the end of the 250 mile ride, I was hating it and was just happy to get home. I suffered from the leg cramps for almost two days after that ride.
If I was given the opportunity to do it over again, I would have seriously considered buying from a different manufacturer. I take that back... I just wouldn't have bothered with getting a Corbin seat at all. I would have gone anywhere else and I will do just that on my next seat purchase. Why? For the price I paid (even after a sizable discount), I expected a lot more then just "comfort". After putting almost 69,000 miles on an OEM P series 7R seat, I can just about deal with any kind of seating. For me, it's almost like the harder the better.
No, for what I paid, I expect the manufacturer to correct their defects in workmanship and fit both on the first time the seat is returned and do it in a "timely manner". Actually, these "defects" should not have happened in the first place. Even accepting the fact that the Corbin seat ADDS weight to my bike, it does not mean I have to accept poor workmanship, an incompetent customer service staff and a "repair staff" that not only can't read an extremely detailed description of the problem, but can't even figure it out when a half dozen high resolution photos are also enclosed.
What they sent back would be almost laughable if it wasn't for the outrageous price I paid for such "caring service and craftsmanship" (now THAT'S laughable). I might not be able to get as "comfortable" seat elsewhere, but I might actually get one that fits and if it doesn't, there might even be a chance that some other manufacturer's customer service will give a crap about me as a customer. If anything, they might not lose my seat for two months, either.

..and they want $185 to RE-UPHOLSTER THE DAMN THING...for waht appears to be an inherent desing flaw...when you can get a new one for $200~$225...I mentioned the absurdity of it at Laguna...and the the 'staff' had at oh-well-tuff-shit look about them...

here is something simple that worked for me:
slot the holes (in the long axis of the bike) that bolt down the corbin. This allows pushing the seat forward 1/4-3/8" and closes up the crack between the seat and tank.
worked for me

If I move it forward it fits like shit in the back. It really needs to be longer. I spaced the rubber bumpers up on the front about 1/4 inch to close up the gap to the tank cover. Getting some bubbles to. Dam metal parts scraped the tank when I wasn't being carefull but not noticable with seat on. I didn't think Sargent's made a seat for the 12 unless they just recover your stock one, might have to look into that.

Don't have much to say about mine, except that it fits, doesn't seem to rub off any paint, is way more comfortable then stock and I like it.

Sargents is local to me. They dont offer a replacement seat like Corbin. They do however recover or reshape the seat to your specs. Costs are close to the Corbin, depending on how much work you get done. Ive seen a few seats done by them, but none on a ZX12.

Mine fits very well and doesn't wear anything much worse than the stocker. The thing looks great and the shape is good. But the thing may as well have been made of concrete. It is by far the most uncomfortable seat I can remember. All this after I sent it back for softer foam.

Only took me 3 times to get it soft enough!! And on the 1st order, I told them to add more air to the foam and if they did not, I would send it back so please save the shipping charges! They plainly just do not give a FU! I even sent a print out of everyone's hardness complaint to Sandy hi sect! They do not care! My feeling is They are making too much money with the Hardleys to care about us!!

Vincent, that was more than a year ago, I think I am going to find someone local that can do foam and have them put this cover on the stock (light) seat base.

I talked to a friend about the seat and he turned me on to a local guy that does restorations. Says he knows foam density and knows how to make exact copies of foam shapes. We will see.
