Lets see... Ted says he has never crash, never.... except on the race track. Excuse me did I exempt the friggin race track? No I did not. It all counts. You were just lucky that you did so at the track with someone around to haul your butt off to the hospital.

It is all a matter of odds. You roll the dice enough times and you will crap out. Obviously you can minimize the chances by doing as Ted states above, but shot happens. I was setting at red light waiting for the light to turn green, a guy going from my right to the left makes a legal left turn and hit the front wheel of my motorcycle. I experienced the most vicious highside ever!!!!! All of the safety tips, defensive driving / riding etc. didn't work in this case. So I stand with the statement I made above!

Let's see, alot of people will never see a racetrack. I guess I meant moving. The only accidents I have ever been in is when stopped (all in a car). Yes shit happens. As for lucky, no at the track you push limits, on the street you should never exceed 70ish percent.

Are you kidding me?? I too have 25,000 (actually 26 now) and I just had my 14th set of tires delivered. How do you get such good milage??

One variable seems to be where you live. The roads around where I live are pretty smooth and slippery (not to be confused with chuckhole free). Tires don't chew up too badly here. I think they use limestone in the pavement and it washes/wears away. Limestone is the most common rock they mine in these parts.
Down at the gap last fall, I shredded a tire in one day that would have lasted a while up here, and the roads are noticeably stickier. Perhaps they are using something else, granite? I also noticed that the roads have some reflectivness like lots of tiny mirrors.....

Of course it could just be that you ride like a freaking maniac!

TedG...I like and agree with your recommendations.

Let me add (from personal experience), never straddle the center of the road when going over the top of a sharp crested hill. I've seen more than once an oncoming vehicle right in the middle of the road when it crests a hill. I've come within inches of getting hit; learned my lesson! -ZXtra

Good point, these reminders never hurt. I think that cooling it all the time sucks..may as well buy a harley. But if we use our heads we can survive and have a shit load of fun. Wheelies/stoppies, tearing up a twisty road, and flat blowing off whoever wants to play is the reason we bought the 12s. I have 10 times the respect for a guy that uses his head than a squid that is trying to impress.
