Diy clutch oiling questio

I am going to drill the oiling holes in my clutch as per the old posts that showed the locations and diameters. None of the posts that I ever recall seeing mention how much material was ground of the "pull" or "push" (I remember that arguement,lol)rod for increased oil flow.

Does anyone know how much I should grind off of the shaft? Seems like it was TedG that ground his down twice before he was happy with the amount of oil flow.

TedG was this you??

Hondo was going to drill a shaft, but I never heard if he was successfull.

Say, change your topic header to Clutch oiling mod or something....

anyway I was just in my clutch this weekend. I was thinking about how the hub is getting oil. The oil seems to be coming down the center of the transmission shaft and then flowing past the clutch pull pin. The hub then has some holes drilled in it so that the oil can come through those holes to oil the clutch pack. Now my Full Muzzy clutch pack is putting an "oil film" on the clutches at best! I believe the rotational speed of the hub dis-allows for the oil to go through the holes but just sits suspended like a washing machine in spin cycle. Unlike an object, fluid has a different mass properties. The "ledges" in the clutch hub would collect and Hold the oil but not force the oil through the drilled holes.
Questions..........
1) Why are the holes so small in the clutch hub?
2) Is the clutch pull pin allowing enough oil to pass?

Has anyone tried drilling holes in the clutch pull pin to allow more oil out when the clutch is pulled? The clutch pull pin is hollow so it would be possible to drill some holes near the end of the pin that becomes exposed when the pin is pulled....

I think someone stated they filed it down to leave a flat spot (around .020 or .0020??). I also remember where the shaft was EDM'ed with a 1mm hole right at the end. I will have to find where I wrote that down. It is one of my "to do sometime in the future" mods with about 20 others I need to do.

I think the Kawi bulletin says a flat spot 8mm wide by 3mm deep.

No the Pusher Shaft does not allow enough oil inside the hub.........

Cross drill by way of EDM the Pusher shaft .040 This will give a nice dual spray inside your hub and cool the clutch. The holes are placed on the inside of the surface that the needle bearing rides on. This oils the inside of the hub at all times.

Flat spotting the pusher will allow it to wobble in the input shaft.
