Kinda off topic question... anyone know anything about the ZR-7?
Hey all -
This is kind of an "off topic" question - appologies in advance - but I figured there is a TON of motorcycle experience lying about here so... here goes!
My girlfriend and I were out on the '12 today for about 300 miles. It was rough on her - she sits on the pillion seat and she's 6' 2" (she told me she deserves an "iron butt" award)!!! So, she "finally" decided to seriously look into getting the ZR-7. She LOVES the lines, colors, seating position and feel of the ZR-7 (she sat on one at the Kawasaki dealer today).
Its not my decision, but she is looking for my advice (as I've been riding for 12 years).... She is a new rider, but she's tall, so I figured the 7 would be a good match, not too agressive, not TOO powerful, but not TOO weak either, and she's got legs more than long enough to support the bike. I think it would last longer than the EX-500 (I feel that is a bit under-powered) and I bet a pipe would brighten up the performance in a year or so when she feels she's ready. I have no idea if there is a market for used ZR-7's - I think a new one might be a bad decision. As a general rule, I recommend used bikes for all my friends who are first starting to ride, as they are likely to dump it (at a gas station - or stopping at a light or something) if they are new riders.
Anyone have any experience with the ZR-7? Any thoughts? Thanks for helping out!

A friend of mine has a 2000 ZR-7. I love the color of blue it is. I have rode it. Nice riding bike. He got an FZ-1 because he wanted more power. I think it would be a good bike for your significant other.

Wifey has one. Nice bike. Handles really well, turns in nice. Good balance of power, not too tourqey but will keep up all day long. Little buzzy but nothing gel grips wont cure. It's set up currently Stage 1, K&N, Kerker S/O, Corbin, Kawa accesory case savers and a Maier fairing. ANDit's For Sale(about 4500 miles). She has the urge for my bud's ZX9 or possibly a ZX6/SV650, got the new bike fever bad but I think it'll pass. At least I hope so, we use it and the ZRX when we take the kids with us which wouldn't be as feasable on a pr of Ninja's. BTW She's 5'5" 110lb and has no problem with it, even with our 11 yr old riding 2 up. I'll try to scan a better pic.

Depends on her personality long term. If you feel that she will out grow it and want to be in the "sports bike arena", then buy anything so she can learn, and have her saving up for the bike she really wants........New riders are ready for their "real" bike in about 3000 mi. If it is about dropping the bike, don't worry most of us have dropped a bike long after we learned to ride!!!
