fuel line size
Hey,
Anyone know offhand what size fuel lines are on the bike ? are they 3/16 inch ? I'm going to be fitting an auxiliary fuel cell this winter and need to order some parts. I'd rather save the bother of taking the tank off right now just to look at the bits.
Anyone ?

Much pondering has gone into this.
- passenger seat comes off
- home-made platform (plywood, plastic or aluminum, haven't decided yet) bolts on using longer bolts than the ones that hold the seat on, and solidly mounted behind as well
- aux tank bolts on platform (5 gal)
- quick-disconnect fuel line attatches somewhere inside the storage compartment
- home-made platform also serves as saddlebag mounting area
- aux tank will sit higher than fuel tank, gravity will feed fuel.
Of course this makes the bike a no-passenger affair while on long trips, but is that a bad thing ?

You could stop at a gas station every now and then thus eliminating the need for that extra 5 gallons... are you going on a "long" trip? will we hear from you?

Well, Bob... I must admit that you have me scratching my head on this one. If you wanted a long distance cruiser, why would you buy a ZX-12?? I'm not trying to be negative, but this is one of the strangest things I have heard concerning a 12. But good luck
PS, Why don't you post a picture when the project is finished.. I'm sure that I am not the only one who would like to look at your handiwork.

I'm at work trying to remember the size when I removed the tank on my 12. Bigger than 3/16", more like 5/16"-3/8". Those fuel fitting tubes were pretty big!

Actually the 12 is a pretty good long distance tourer, save for one thing, fuel range. I like to ride long but I also enjoy more 'spirited' rides (not to mention the 'spirited - long' rides). I figured the 12 to be a good compromise. My project will likely take up most of the winter months, as I'll be mail-ordering all my parts. I'll post pictures when I'm done.
I guess I'll have to lift the tank up to have a peek under it after all...
